They are ok but it would be better if you can fight and get missons with out unmount it.

Just bought one for 612k then paid 12k for food, ran him from yrkanis to davae and back, and he used anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 his food for that round trip, are they supposed to go through food this fast?

Don't bother having a packer follow you while your on a mount, they can't keep up, and you loose them quickly.

Edit: mounts are not as good as the highest quality packer.
Highest quality packer is 1 big star, where as a mount is 3 small stars.

Your mount will not be able to survive an attack from a Scary Gingo but your highest packer will.

A few observations.

yes, they do use food that fast, was the same on the ats
from what i have seen mouts are not subject to aggro, had one follow me from pyr to thesos on the ats coz of the warp-bug, not one scratch on it :)
if you get attacked it's the rider who takes damage first

when riding it, its you that is attacked, not the mount

mounts do not teleport, but you can take them through portals if you unmount

u cant use speed when on a mount

mounts can outrun some aggro

making a correction to the last two posts, on my trip back from davae to yrkanis, yea, i was attacked first, but my mount did take damage, and was down to half health, where as i kept dodgin, i had 3 gingo's after me, 1 was attacking me, the other 2 were hitting my mount.

So, to correct the last two responses, mounts do take damage and do get attacked.

There regin is equal to a packer of the same quality 3 star with regen.

Don't think your mount is free from damage, and definately don't think your mount is free from attack.

This is HIGHLY misleading and will get your mount killed and you will be out the 600k

BooBoo my mount on ATS is still sitting up at Runninghill outpost. I got killed while we running with the wind through my hair. He was left unharmed, the dogs chewed on me and then they wandered off. They followed us into the outpost so I guess it is not safe. Some day I hope to get up there and get him if he is still alive. But I have now died 4 times. Got within site of him once. I was yelling BooBoo Mommy is coming and bang, torbak and some bandits both tried to tear me apart.

from my understanding they don't eat if they are not moving so he has 2 packs of food on him and hope to get up to save him.

sorry if it was misleading

i ran around avendale for 30 minutes getting packs of goari and clopper to chase me, and i never saw my packer get hit. beyond that i dont know if they take damage or not

Man, oh man, developers ...all developers seem to have the same vapor lock when it comes to adding "mounts" to a game.

It's alwase about a "run buff" to developers.

What about this? wouldnt this be cool? wouldnt you want to see this in a game?

An entire guild, mounted in ranks, lances leveled as they CHARGE!! a field full of invading kipee!!

Folks just barely out of the stone age figured out that "mounts" make a hella battlefield multiplier...seems developers, neck deep in the digital age, just cant come to grips with mounts as a concept other than "run buff"

And, what about chariots? Chariots with ...maybe...a swivel mount for an autolauncher!! and even some extra storage for those way way too heavy ammo stacks :)

Thats why we have the Encyclopedia, we have to recover all knowledge that was lost, we have now learned to use mounts, later we will maybe learn how to use them in war..
I think this is a good system where you dont have access to everything from the start.

I think the mounts should be able to eat some carcasses left after combat though, buying food to get from A to B seems more expensive than using teleport now.

Yeah I agree the knowledge should come gradually, more in keeping with the story (and development schedules!). :)

Aren't meks herbivores? They can't eat carcasses if they are. ;)

They could still eat grass though, or whatever plants grow on Atys. The wild mektoubs seem to get along fine without being fed.

Seems like the perfect fix for ranged waepons, You can fire a ranged weapon from your mount! That would be it. The taller your mount, the more range modifier you have.

What a brilliant idea!

They do eat grass and all though. How do you think they can go days w/o eating if they are just staying there. The reason you must buy them food is for when you want them to run. When they are running it would be hard for them to eat grass from the ground so you must supply them with food in their sack. :)
