View Full Version : Any chance for a Loot Auto-split?

In groups of more than 2 people, this would be a big help. I'm finding it a pain to keep track of whose turn it is to loot and somebody forgetting leads to hurt feelings.
Any chance you can add a button for 'random loot' on the quartering box, or maybe give the team leader the option so that if any group member quarters the mob, it will be split automatically?

I would very much like to see this sort of option so that no matter who opens the corpse, it still opens the loot window for the proper person who's turn it is to loot. People can hop up and down saying that a better group is all that is needed, but having ranged and support classes running up to loot stuff can often be a severe hinderance to a group... because of that you will often find said classes not looting to prevent being "that guy who killed the group because he was so busy trying to loot instead of doing his job"

yeah we need it big time.
I haven't had a problem but its just a hassle. We usually just have one guy loot it all and then we split the money at the end. That's not ideal though and things can happen.

Very simple thing to add... just have a round robin loot access in groups...
I mean there are already loot permissions in the game as it is... just extend that to groups so that people know whos turn it is.

This issue could also be partially resolved by allowing stack spliting in the exchange window. Then one person could loot and just distribute the loot at a later date.

I would rather have stack spliting and loot notification than some kind of auto loot distribution system. Letting the system split it works fine with money, but can cause problems with items. For exampe, I notice those eyes from the sprightly yubo are popular. Do you really want autoloot in a situation like that?
Actually, I imagine that at higher levels alot of us are going to be throwing away just about everything we loot.

I rather have it automatically go to my inventory than have one guy in the group grabbing everything in sight. Its annoying to keep track of who's turn it is to loot, especially if the group fights several different types of creatures. It is almost impossible to track what is looted if one single person loots because it stacks with those objects he already has in his inventory. So that requires the designated looter to have near empty inventories. That is just not realistic.
It is best to set autoloot to distribute. You can have options to allow players to pass on all the loot if they chose to.
I am surprised there is no autoloot feature. This would have been something I would have mentioned imediately if I was part of the focus beta group.

Again. Group notification of all looted items and the ability to split stacks. If one guy in the group is ninja looting, and not willing to split it, the entire group knows because they can see what he is looting. Once you realize the guys a greedy jerk you kick him from the group.

I'll add this to my ever expanding wishlist to give to the devs. Thanks guys.

This is what alot of MMORPGS do but it doesn't enforce the loot schema, and it doesn't allow people who have died in battle to get a chance to loot. Auto distribute will eliminate having to click on the stupid corpse at all unless you need a mission item and it certainly saves time for other things more interesting. Who cares who is looting what, just distribute 1 item of equal value from a mob per player and cycle through that. if mob doesn't drop anything it will stay that one person's loot turn til he gets something.
This worked semi-well in DAoC except DAoC was totally random.

Sorry, I guess where we differ is that while I can see the system enforcing the loot schema, I can't see it distributing, with any accuracy, according to value. I wouldn't trust such a system. That's why I would prefer to just make it so that everyone is aware of what is being looted and let the group handle the distribution from there. Value is relative anyway. What is valuable to you may be worthless to me, and vice versa.
Of course, I'm not one to hunt with total strangers so enforcing the schema is usually something I'm doing amongst friends, and easy to manage. If you die, hey, I'll get you your share when we get back to town.

Problem is currently you can't split stacks unless you have a pack animal with you. This means distributing loot from one looter is impossible til they change it.
Taking turns looting means that someone is going to get unlucky and end up with no loot for 10 times in a row. Seen it happen already.
Keeping track any other way is too tedious for parties who just want to have fun and fight and not worry about the loot except getting some.

Yes, I realize that it's really hard to properly divide loot right now and/or distribute/sell subsets of your items to other players. That's why, if it came down to spilt-stacks vs. auto-loot, I would rather they fixed split-stacks. To me, it covers more areas of irritation than auto-loot. Plus, I'm betting there's much less coding involved than an auto-loot system that wasn't completely random.
However, if Nevrax can do them both at the same time, making everyone happy, more power to them.

why cant we have the best of all worlds, and just have multi-options for the PT leader to choice, so the leader would get to choice one of the following..
LootSplit-Off (makes it so that whoever loots, gets the items)
LootSplit-On +full (makes it so that the system auto sorts all incoming loot and splits it acordinly, even splits the stacks up (ex: if you get yubo beek stack of 2, that will be split between 2 PT member)
LootSplit-On +partly (makes it so that the system auto sorts all incoming loot, and splits it acordingly, but doesnt backup the stacks (ex: if you get yubo beek stack of 2, that will be one persons loot)
I feel it should be as per the leader choice. Posably even adding an option to de-select certain members in the group that say they dont want any loot, or something along that lines so that they are not added within the loot pool.
