For our faithful Homins who pre-ordered the game and have a code in-hand we have a little treat for you. You're now allowed to enter the Advanced Test Server. The ATS is where we try out all of the paches and bug fixes before they go live.
In order to access the server, please follow these instructions:
* Copy your Saga Of Ryzom client to a different directory.
* Open up your test client's "client.cfg" file with notepad and add the following line:
Application = { "ryzom_livetest", "./client_ryzom_rd.exe", "./" };
Start up the test client and log in normally. Your client will automatically patch to the current test version.
We apologize but only current registered players with their pre-order code entered into the system may join the ATS.
You can enter your pre-order code here: https://secure.nevrax.com/payment_profile/
Please note that there will be NO GM support for this server.

I noticed that the bug report tool is not active on the ATS, what channels are we supposed to use to report bugs?

I added
Application = { "ryzom_livetest", "./client_ryzom_rd.exe", "./" };
like I was suppose to and I still cant access the Advanced test server, it still only shows Windermeer and not the advanced test server.

If you made a second install and edited the file as directed, you wouldn't be able to see Windemeer any longer. Verify your client.cfg

Make sure that you edit the client.cfg file and not the client_default.cfg file as SoR will replace the client_default.cfg if you make any changes to it.

You'll need two shortcuts, one for Windermeer (non-test install) and one for ATS (test install). Simply copying a directory won't change related shortcuts.

I don't understand why the test server is only available to those that pre-ordered. It seems to me that Nevrax would want as many people as possible to play on that server. Restricting it to a subsection of the community seems counter-productive. :/

Couple of questions I have regarding the ATS:
1. Do they have character wipes?
2. Is it one server for all communties?
I really like having the Beta gang allowed to gather in one place. Good job here Nevrax.

Yes there are character wipes (:(unfortunately) but this is because it's the test server.
And there is only one ATS, so there may be people from other countries on the server the same time you are.

We're using the pre-order code holders as a sort of "focus beta testing" for the first patch. I don't see how this would be counter-productive, especially as they will be reporting any bugs that come along so that it won't end up on the live Windermeer server. This way you won't have to deal with them. :)

Thanks for enabling the bug report tools, eating the patch notes now so I know what to break. ;)

Please wipe somewhat often and more importantly introduce a way to copy characters over from the live servers to the test server. Many MMO's with public/semipublic test servers say wipes are possible but basically never do. While nothaving wipes on the test server isn't a bad thing in itself, the lack of ability to copy yourself and equipment over to it eventually creates a place that is hostile to folks just wanting to test impending changes to their 'class' since they get flak from the long time testers and are thrown into a place where they need to get equipment, possibly someone to help them get it, someone to make it for them, possibly someone to help them buff into it, etc...

It took less than 5 minutes (four was copying the data)...simple as could be.
You could simply add that line to the retail copy sure but then you would ONLY be able to play on the test server. With char wipes, would you really want to do that?

I made a copy.
Double checked, made sure my Pre-order code was in and accepted to my account (silly EBGames sent it via Email 3 days AFTER I got my game)
Added the line
Application = { "ryzom_livetest", "./client_ryzom_rd.exe", "./" };
And get an error 53 that I cant use the client application "ryzom_livetest"

Yeah I'm getting this error code as well.
Error: you can't use the client application 'ryzom_livetest' (error code 53)
I did add my preorder code after I had already registered, so many that's causing the problem...

Just troubleshooting here. Does the pre-order code you received from EB contain 20 characters? I know there was a problem with the codes they originally sent out.

Well, I have a pre-order code, it just doesn't work... Are they fixing it or what? Gamestop never even replied when I e-mailed about it.

I am also an EB Games preorder. My code has 25 characters (not including the dash between sets). I didn't think it worked and called them again, they advised they would email a new code. Never got that but did find if i made new characters I did get my armband in game so I guess that makes it a good code.
Did the set-up as instructed and I also see no server at all listed. I copied the entire Ryzom folder to Ryzom Test folder so it has the subfolders too. Is that a mistake? While I monitor the board I think I'll try trashing those and see what happens.
I truly look forward to the opportunity to aid in any way I can the development of this wonderful game.

lol It was worth a try. No joy, no server.
Think i'll go play now :)
(I did try your link to enter the code but all was as I saw it last with the record of the event of the code being entered already.)
I still love this game :)

The first pre-order code I got from EB Games was only 20 characters. EB Games sent me a new pre-order code with 25 characters which worked correctly when I entered it in to my account profile. Under Account Events I now have this,
6645 September 27 2004 Special coupon for preorders.
Of course I don't see anything different on my character when I'm in the game, nor am I able to access the test server...

Hm there a reason there are no servers and there weren't to begin with for the latest patch?
I thought we were supposed to be actually testing this not told we were and not given the server to test with lol

I think it would help to let it open to everyone, not just pre-order holders, because the more people you have, the more bug reports that may come in at a quicker rate, which will help the devs get things done quicker and possibly get the patch out sooner than expected.

You need to download a whole client now to use ATS not just copy ryzom folder and add that line they need to change what it says. plus need to find way for dailup to play it without the 1.1 GB client :(
