Are screenshots allowed? I'm slowly building up a collection of event and other images. I grab them all as tga so as not to lose detail but I'm not sure what size/format is best to save them. Don't know what will happen to my hosting bandwidth so maybe I should use photobucket or something?

Hand drawn... the first one is watercolor and pencil, the second inked and colored in photo shop... the third is pencil and photoshop.

Hehe, nope.
As you can see he´s from 2002. And all similarities to any other Games Design are pure coincidence. Although the Pose was inspired by a Comic-Book panel.

I'll take that as a compliment :p

First the drawing is sketched out using a 3F pencil, I dont use HB because it is too dark and too soft. 3F leaves reasonably light marks and hard so stays almost a constant thinness. Then i use HB to define the final outlines.

Once I have my pencil sketch i then place another piece of paper over that and use a light box to follow around the pencil lines using a graphics pen either point 1 or 0.5. (nice thin crisp marks) This saves on rubbing out the pencil marks as 3F doesnt rub off as well because it is harder lead, usually leaves an imprint too and i always end up smudging or screwing up the paper :mad:

Then we move to the point 3 pen and begin to shade in the dark sections, point 3 i still pretty fine though so for the big areas i have a nice big pointed tip marker pen.

Once finished inking I scan into the computer and place in photoshop. The layer is duplicated then i edit the threashold, so i just have black and white. This layer is then turned to 10% opacity and placed ontop of the orginal scan to crisp it up a little.

I find irresistible the pictures and the great artwork in this thread :)

I particularly like the one made for Drakfot, she has never looked so lovely holding her book. There are some others I've seen just as lovely and all by the same artist. I wonder if I could humbly request one for my toon. (Trixie) It would be nice to have an avatar to go with my ridiculous tag# 901941. (I can't figure out how to change it, but I don't think I can since I started SoR using the trial version).

To change your Forum Tag, you´ll just have to click on "User Control Panel" in the Drop down menue in the lower right corner of the Forum Screen. There you can do (almost) anything you want to your Tag, or other Details. :D

Oh and I think that Ema is surely allready drowning in work, but will as surely add another comission to her scedule, if you ask nicely. ;)

As for sketching I have only Psylo on my ‘list’ and I need to hunt him… err track him down. So if you’d like, Trixie, I’m more than able. Just need to find you in game or you can spend me some screens and we’ll be totally set! Rock’in. Though… you’ll have to tell me which media… I’d sway you to the computer colored ones. My scanner is on its death bed, no pun intended. ;) But I have just about anything at my disposal… within reason.. I can’t pour bronze these days and stone lithography is also beyond my means.

Marker, watercolor… these I can do… pencil, colored pencil. Pen. You know your average everyday cheap artist materials… okay the markers aren’t cheap… but they’re left overs from ages ago… :D and I’m rambling… aaaannnyways.

To change your Forum Tag, you´ll just have to click on "User Control Panel" in the Drop down menue in the lower right corner of the Forum Screen. There you can do (almost) anything you want to your Tag, or other Details. :D

To any and all that have requested a sketch by me...

(sorry to post this in the general art thread, but I figured that this is about the only place I do post and it was probably this thread that brought me the request(s) in the first place)

My scanner has died... well it died awhile ago... truth be told it -was- dying and then the new computer choose to not recognize it as anything short of a source of chaos. For example, if the scanner was plugged in... the computer won't start up.

If I were to tell more truths... I have a new scanner, but the above note is why I haven't been able to get back to any of you lovely lot.

Next week after the store I've been working at is finished closing down... I shall have free time to sketch and scan...

Thank you for being patient and sorry this has taken me so long to post... I figured I'd be able to juggle work/home/game and sketching well... but with the game (finally T_T) working well for the first time since beta... you can probably guess which one has been winning my free time.

Back with new sketches soon...

If you mean screenshots, then CTRL-F10 will save a JPG file, or SHIFT-F10 will save a TGA file to your Ryzom install directory.

Wow, this one is very nice, Kosto.

Something about Ema's work. Many months ago she made me three paintings in which I am wearing mostly beige in heir, tattoo and clothing. Also she sent me the real pieces of paper and these are now on permanent display in my livingroom.
Last week I tried a different hairstyle, colors and tattoo's... Didnt felt right so I went back to the same old :D Beware, after you ben painted you cant change your cosmetics ever again ;)

Heh, just thought I'd bump this thread again :) It's come a long way since it was born in Feb 2005, and contains some truly incredible work :)

Ema - as always, it's difficult to say anything about your work that isn't full of adjectives, so Amazingly Incredibly Fantastic is my adjective of the day :) For me, your character work adds a consistent, recognisible 'other side' to the official Ryzom artwork. Much like eastern artists will create Chibi and Manga styled versions of their characters, I feel the Ema style of drawing scenes from Atys is as much a part of Ryzom as the official artwork. I found my way to the old RotD forums (sorry I'm a webmonkeh :)), and couldn't pull myself away from the sketches thread. Genuinely jaw-dropping stuff Ema :)

Acridiel - wow, you've been hiding some considerable talent too, by the looks of it :) The sketch/line-drawings are excellent - I really like both pictures of Nilly, especially the second one, and Solaya is pretty stunning too :) I think you did well with the colouring - it's a different discipline to drawing itself, and one that many line-drawing artists simply don't posess. I think you did very well, especially since your work is displayed with Ema's - Ema is definitely one of those artists who can draw and colour in equal measure:)

Ayur - I think something happened to your art :( I looked at those pictures last week when I first re-visited this thread - now I come to comment on them, and the links don't work! Typical of my bad luck :) Anyhow, I also thought your two sketches were excellent - especially the one of yourself :) Hopefully you can fix the links so we can admire them again!

Very nice Kat, in fact PS ninja I would say :) Some lovely colour blending there, especially on the hair :)

I must get myself a decent set of pencils, and have a try. I haven't really drawn for years - I have more skill with a brush and a model, if I'm honest - although not much more :) I really need some light pencils - my style is a bit, er sketchtastic :D

Ok, there´s a rating by hits and somesuch, but a true rating would be much cooler I think. And much more satisfying for the artists.

Agreed mate - I was surprised to see an excellent wallpaper with 0 rating, then realised they were all the same! I guess with art, it is difficult for people to be honest and fair at the same time. I would genuinely give Ayur's drawings a 5 for a couple of reasons - mainly because she only posted those 2 amongst all the other excellent work here, and they're both miles better than my efforts would be :) Also, she used the words "here are my efforts" - which I took to mean "I may not draw much, but here you go" - hence when I saw the quality of the work, the rating was 5 :)

The problem comes when you have a gallery containing Ayur's kind of work, and something created by either a professional full-time artist, or someone who really ought to be professional :) If the piece is fantastic it should get the 5 rating, but then where does that leave Ayur's work? If I dropped my rating to a 2 or even a 3 I would feel bad, because Ayur's work is certainly worth more than that :) Damn I'm a wimp :)

I don't know if other visitors feel that way, but I certainly do :) I guess for truly effective ratings you need a split between professional and other artists - if only to ensure the non-professionals have every chance of scoring top-marks - only then would the rating be fair, and not cause me headaches :D lol. Not sure if it's applicable to a fansite, but you're the expert :)

hahaha agreed - and i turned around and turned back and suddenly photoshop was shut down... opened it back up and it only had my 'flattend' image saved - my 'layerd' image was lost - and i was in the middle of working out the tattoos :)

And the right one points foreward, the left backward, just like Ingame.
On his right hand, from our point of view, his thumb is in the foreground, on his left slightly hidden behind his other fingers. I admidt that it´s a bit ahrd to see in this detail. ;)
