View Full Version : My adventures with super speed!

Ok, so I haven't had an adventure yet, but maybe sometime I'll try outrunning an entire herd of gingos! Basically, I don't know how or when it happened, but all the sudden I've noticed I have 120% speed. Not 100% like I've ALWAYS had, but 120%. Seeing as I won a race wearing full heavy armor carrying my pike by a LONG SHOT :p, 120% is definitely much faster. Removing all of my armor, jewelry, weapons etc etc I still have 120%. I pretty much emptied my bag which was quite full when I noticed my speed increase, and nothing changed. Does anyone else have this or is it just me? I suspect it must be a bug somewhere because I don't know what I would have done to become faster. Any ideas would be helpful. :)

My toon named "Jhin" was the one he raced and he did beat me, badly, I've never seen 120% speed before, but it's not some typo in the character stats screen. Does anyone know how to boost up speed? Jewelry perhaps? Or maybe a weapon bonus?

I've noticed this as well. Basically I've seen characters that run significantly faster then I do. I don't know what it is, but I'm suspecting it might be stat related. I've noticed that, over time, my character seems to be running faster then he used to.
Anyways, does anyone know?

I vaguely remember you used to move faster as you got higher level. I wonder if that was it. Never seen 120% speed tho.

There's a fighter skill that increases over ground movement.

that's different from the current situation, player chars suddenly get a temporary 120% speed without doing anything and lose it later on sometimes, seems completely random

i had this happen to me for a few min too. i thought someone zapped me with a speed spell or something. it's not the speed up skill from the fight tree b/c it sure as heck doesn't last as long as this boost did.

A couple of things:
1) If you put someone on "follow", you will go faster till you catch up with them.
2) If you double-click a mob in the distance, you will speed up till you reach it - at least when swimming.
3) *speculation* - I hear that a higher Dexterity stat means higher running speed.

> 1) If you put someone on "follow", you will go faster till you catch up with them.
wrong in this case, with 120% speed i sometimes lost people who were following me and often had to stop along the way
> 3) *speculation* - I hear that a higher Dexterity stat means higher running speed.
then how do you explain that i had the bonus two days ago and yesterday was back to 100% without even spending any points on stats

none of these cases apply to me. it's either someone ninja zapping me with a speed spell (if they exist) or just a plain old bug.

I know this works in general right after you put the person on follow. Never seen what happens after you have caught up.

I don't. That point was for others saying characters get faster as they level.
None of what I was saying was for the 120% speed you saw. I was just posting what I knew/heard in the hope that it might help find an explanation.

Seems like it was a bug - i had it as well - was gone the next day. I know some ppl that had 400% speed for a bit

Heh, one of my mates can outrun a Puny goari (a big feat on the n00blands) and hasn't shown any signs of his speed factor dropping back down to normal for a day or two...

Ok, so i guess the speed thing is a bug. Or is it? Could we get a GM to comment on this? On side note, this morning i got stuck between a cart and some pots and they got to me within 2 minutes.
Great customer service Nevrax, keep up the good work.

Actually i've run iton this situation myself. Was on noob island grouped with a friend for some hunting. All of a sudden she asks how i'm running so fast, I turn around and i'm so far ahead I can't even see her. Checked stats and such and I was up at 140%. No clue how this happened. We started comparing stats and she was higher in every stat cataglory. This speed stayed with me for approximately 1-2 days, then next thing you know, back to the crawling 100%. And let me tell you after 2 days of 140, 100 is really crawling.

This is a known issue and it should have been fixed recently. Seeing as this thread was started on the 28th it could have been fixed already(yeah for days off, when I don't catch these things :().
Thanks guys,

Yesterday a friend told me
"hey wait ! I can't follow u, u run so fast ! How u do this ?"
(He was in run mode not in walk mode... ;-) )
So we checked our speed % and we were at 100% the two of us..
So I ask him about his computer and he told me what he has...
It seems he have an older comp than me and a dsl line slower than mine... so I think it's the fps who change the diff run speed we can see on each other (I'm not talking about the % value....... ;-) ).
Damn... So, if this is right the result is : PVP player with higher engine with same skills and lvls should win ?
Forgive me about my bad english typing... My primary language is french ;-)

I had this bug once, never got more than a few points over 120%. I THINk it has something to do with getting slowed, and when you UNslow...it over compensates...umm a little bit LOL.

running speed doesn't depend on you char lvl. I almost won the "run around pyr" event a week or so ago .. I was lvl 15 ..
I ran in first position untill some gingo caught me.
Just a guess: maybe running speed is based on you own computers hardware (like processor speed, ...)

Definately was a bug that got fixed as far as I know since the last patch. I have a P4 processor 3.2 ghz and a X800xt radeon. Its not the computer speed. I had 120% bug for a short while and it disappeared again. Sometimes i think I run slower than 100% now even though it still says 100%. I really wish it was tied to dexterity, or that we get that mount patch soon cause running anywhere is a pain currently. PS. I hope that mount flies...

Yes it was a bug. It had to do with getting a slow malus from two mobs at once. Ie tag teamed by gingo's. They would both hit you with slow ... the system would register it as such but only logged it as one slow state as it should. When it cleared however ... it cleared both of them resulting in the speed boost.
Looking at it from numbers ... normal 100 ... get slowed 80 ... both clear 120. After a few such incidents it multiplies upon itself.
They cleared 99% of the time when you logged out for the night.

Ahh that explains it, I bet it also happens when you get slowed from having been hit in the feet. When multiple mobs do that I bet it causes the same bug.
