Hey all, I was reading through the manual and saw that the "Close Combat" tree split off into "Dagger Fighting" and "Hand to Hand Fighting". I'm a big fan of using bare hands/fists/claws in previous MMO's (was a Monk in FFXI and a Dark Melee in CoH :D ).

Are there any weapons for Hand to Hand later on down the line? Any claws, baghnaks, knuckles, etc? Sounds like fun =)

lol i played the exact classes in those games too. always loved h2h so i'm curious too about the advantages/disadvantages of going h2h in this game.

One thing I noticed in the manual, is that the less, well, impact a weapon has, the less damage it does to the mobile's body, and thus, the more loot you can get. I'd imagine that bare hands or daggers would thus give the best loot.

Have you all tried hand to hand a bit before lvl 50? I did and what puzzles me is that it does no more damage than dual daggers, but at the same time it is as slow as using a 2 handed Long Sword... what's the deal with that? Shouldn't hand 2 hand be as fast, if not faster in attack rate, as using 2 daggers? The animations for Hand to hand are there, but why are the attacks so slow?

I tried it out tonight. Daggers do more damage than bare hands and bare hands are slightly faster. I would still like to know if there are any plans on putting in some H2H weapons for us to play around with. Guess it hasn't been discussed yet as they probably have a lot of other stuff to worry about. :D

HTH gives you access to different stanzas than daggers. It's like Maces and swords. Comparable damage, but swords are faster. Plus with hth, you have no action penalty (especially if in light or no armor), dodge better (though your parry is terrible), and get special stanzas later. In addition, you don't have any penalties for quickly casting a spell or two in the middle of combat.

HTH is a good idea, it just depends on what tactics you favor.

Wow, so there are stanzas specific to H2H? That's kinda cool. The benefits you listed sound good also.

well, if you an see the H2H tree in your action progression, you can take a look and see what stanzas you get

Ive got an offensive mage and i noticed that Magic AMp are considered H2H fighting... its kinda weird but interesting, am i gonna be able to use h2h stanzas when equipped with a magician staff ? will i get to use my staff in one hand and punch with the other ? or is this just an error and it will be move to mace / regular staff fighting (i think its considered 1H melee blunt ) ?

I am currently 190 in dagger and honestly I think H2H was never completed. H2H is very slow and does nothing for damage. Daggers I can hold taunt better than taunt 5. Just my 2 cents......oh also Close Combat has NO titles currently. So enjoy your Melee Warrior title hehe

Would still be cool to have some Katars or Baghnahks to punch things with =D
