due to alot of discussion over soloing i thought id put this post up see what views people have on craftable and consumeable potions hp, sap or stam ones higher ammount of healing per lvl of Q maybe needing supreme mats to get 100% power on them when crafting :)
simple yes/no options potions are like marmite you either love them or you hate them...

I refuse to answer this poll based on the fact that they said potion consumables are going to be added. Why ask a question when they already said they are doing it? We don't know exactly how it will be (most likely not like most games as with everything else, but I think that is good) so why not just wait and find out?

any chance of third option: maybe, depends on the implementation.. I kinda like not having a bag full of potions atm, but i do see the usefulness it would bring to solo play. just worried about all the stuff that's been discussed in t'other thread =)
(and marmite is great, except for those nasty marmite crisps - yukkie in the extreme)

What? you don't still have a dozen eggs sitting in your pack, just waiting for you to forget to use them? :p

Aye, I would like to see alchemy added to the game at some point. It could be done so as not to unbalance the game or make healers useless. This was actually a fun aspect of EQ and especially in the rpg Morrowind......man that was the one of the top things to do in Morrowind....alchemy......droools. :)
Maybe consumables could have a certain amount of bulk, say at least 10 or 15 so as people wouldn't load up on them.......and its a container with liquid for goodness sake. What would be even better is that one would have to make the bottle, and the bottle material would be made according to the mats from one's home environment. For example: the sand in Tyrker beaches and Fyros desert could be used to make glass bottles, wood from Matis forest and Zorai jungles for wooden containers, shell could be used and so on. In addition, potions could degrade over time making them less potent the longer they age and there is always a chance that a hit from a mob would break a bottle or container and one would loose said x amount of potions. This would help supply and demand as well as over supply becoming a problem on the market to some degree. The quality of mats used in making the container would determine the consumable's bulk, durability and ability to keep the potion fresh or its preservation, and the same could apply to the potion itself as far as its strength and how well it keeps over time.
Yes, yes..........I've thought about this quite a bit when digging at TB in KOD lol. ;) That and different mounts with mounted combat would really add several new levels of game play to Ryzom that would both make the solo and group player's experience that much more rich and interesting.
edit: I want to see the outpost and more missions and rites first though. *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*

heh 10-15 bulk is a bit extreame for just a small bottle of liqiud when a whole bundle of wood is .5 bulk tho dont ya think?
.5 bulk is sufficent id say as pots should'nt weigh more than materials the only way to stop them from being over powerd when you can carry this ammount tho is to make the regen from the pot take time not ages but not instant regen either so youd have to use it at say half life if you were fighting for yourself to survive or you could use it after a fight and it increases the regen till that stat is full maybe (for solo lvling downtime reduction)
and in answer to the person who refused to post an answer "BAH HUMBUG" do a search on this forum for consumable potions and you find nothing.... and what i heard in game about them i class as rumor not fact -.- as its not straight from the horses mouth also no one has given any more ETA for any new content other than "Soon"(TM) so maybe if this topic is seen it may remind them they mentioned adding it and forgot to do it

I really think this is a bad idea as it will surely invite to abuse (especially if they weigh 0.5 since you can have alot of them on you).
Imo this would nerf the game badly, whats wrong with the current system? ooooo I cant solo powerlvl... bah, whiners - get a team (and dont tell me theres no chance of a team, I can go out and team up at any lvl and so can you - there ARE ppl out there)

Some potions might be helpful but this might also make this game too easy to play (recently big thing was added that makes traveling much easier- range that mobs leave combat was lowered) and if they would be added there should be "hands" window expanded by adding new slots.

"bah-whiners" *added to list of most hated comments*
lol someone has alrdy posted in this poll saying this poll makes no differance as they are being added anyway the easter eggs are one type of consumeble potion already in game
i dont really see how people having potions that they could carry alot of would really affect the game if the regen from the potions wasnt instant and was gradual say took 3-5 seconds to fill up the ammount of the pots regen
ive played games with pots that regen this slow and people say they are useless but they would sure help me with soloing and anyone else who feels the desire to be "anti-social" and lvl on there own for a bit rather than being forced to go play a one player game by the fanboi comments :)

even making base metals needs alchemy ;)

well okok, alchemy might be a good addin - but the reason Im so negative is that in many other games i played with potions and such, they have made to much of an impact meaning ppl with high lvl pots are totally unkillable or near to it and that just bores me so much.
I like that you cant go everywhere in Ryzom solo (unless you're real sneaky) - I like the fact that Ryzom is sometimes very very hard if you're solo - cause all this makes the game so much more of a challenge - and I like challenges.
And Diggin - was that a threat or a promise? ,-)

obviously there would have to be restrictions on pots as all items as i agree pots that mean you can tank a herd of kinchers solo arent what im thinking about but anything to deal with the regen time between fights solo is a help
its a promise ;)

well, well, well, potions would be nice to have, but how to not unbalance gameplay...hmmm, i think thats easy with SoR :)
itīs there in the game allready, if you think about it ;)
you have a regeneration lvl allready implemented, so it should be easy to make the potions add to your lvl of regeneration (eg. basic +1, fine +2, choice +3, exellent +4, supreme +5 or more).
the duration and/or the amount of potion should be linked to the Quality of the craft (eg.q/2 in seconds/sips crafted).
also i like the idea of craftable containers.
that could be like vial, bottle, skin, keg, barrel for increase in size at higher lvls, so they could hold somethink like 50/100/150/200/250 sips and you have to craft them to hold your potions beforhand :D
the Quality determines the HP of the container(eg.q=HP and yes make them breakable) and the basic/fine/choice/exellent/supreme how easily they break/get damaged(eg. 100/80/60/40/20% of damage hits)
and for the mats to use, well the missionmats would get a whole new meaning if we could use them for potions.
that way potions would benefits the soloplayer and doesnīt have to much impact on overall gameplay.(or maybe not, the DoT spells/actions would now be great to counter the potions in PvP ;))

There is also the fact taht the easter eggs, from what I hear, just gave you an ability, like sap aura or the like. In case you didn't notice, if you have multiple auras, you can only use one at a time, so no sap aura, plus stam aura, plus hp aura. With this being how the potions work, unbalancing the game would be hard. the only nerfing that I can think of for this way is people, instead of spending sp on things like the speed up power or the auras or the self heals, they spend it on improved damage and the like, and depend on the potions for the 'power' category stuff. with invulnerablility power and the like, that cost 50 sp, well, that would count as a little unbalanced.

I did as you 'ordered' and I DID find a thread on consumables just as I mentioned to begin with.
http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12762&highlight=consumables
Now of course you will say that was a while ago and quote that it says 'It shouldn't last long before you actually see some in-game' at which point you will ask where is it?
My answer to that:
Well... Did you notice those things that looked like easter eggs? Were they kind of consumable or something to that extent? Of course you will reply saying that they aren't enough really and not what you are looking for at which point I will ask you if you read the part about "This is a semi-major feature, so it won't be implemented on one row"
I hope this answers your question as to why I said what I said earlier. Yea, i may have posted in a kind of sarcastic manner but that was because of how you stated your reply to me. Enjoy, don't mean to start any disagreements, but you strictly ordered me to do something, and basically said what I posted was silling and meaningless. Again, don't want to start any disputes between people.

lol i could say something youd not like here but ill hold tongue..... for now.. but since your so great at predicting you could always TELL me what i was going to say....
the majority of the players agree that downtime with solo is too long and that potions are needed so i guess thats why they were going to be added
*dont blame me for a forum with a crap search system as your lucky i even found it hidden in a dropdown menu....and the reason it prob didnt find consumeable potions is as it wasnt in the title it was in the content of the post. something with such a big impact on the game i would have expected to have a long list of topics with whiners complaining it would nerf the game*

maybe with something like +1, +2, +4, +8, +16 would be nicer still, but thats up to the devs ;)

Don't forget to include a decent usage time that can be interrupted (like tickets), otherwise people will abuse it in PvP and being able to get beat on by anything without risk. We certainly don't want that 8)
