Prospecting and deposit

Hello guys, I apologize for the probably silly question but, as noob as I am, I'm having trouble understanding the difference between prospecting and "find deposit" skills.

This is what I've understand since now:
- prospecting skill will reveal (if any) a source of raw material near to the caster.
- "find deposit" skill (I dont remember exact name), will reveal a deposit of raw material near to the caster.

But the source and the deposit aren't the same thing ?

I think the second skill you're talkigna bout may be "Tracking" ? I'm not sure, but I'll answer as if it were.

Prospecting skill immediately pops a spot (little green bubles) if there are any in the area it covers.

Tracking doesn't pop the spots. However, it has a much farther range and it will direct you to where the spots are via a "hot/cold" game. Will flash a distance on the bottom of the screen and you have to keep running in the right direction to reduce it to zero. Then once you get to the the right area you'll have to propsect to find the spots. But that can take a few tries, tracking often leads to the general vicinity but not the exact location.

And don't worry about silly questions! There are a lot of things that are very complicated in harrvesting in the beginning and we're here to help. ;)
