tribes start attacking you. Do you need to reach -100 fame? Or do they start firing at some point below -66? Is anyone so infamous that mobile tribal patrols will attack him or her on sight?

at -90 you are attacked. at -66 nothing to fear. I didnt check exact value.
The roaming tribe never attacks you, even with -100 (else GoC forage field would have been a graveyard :D *hint hint ancient dryad*)

Forgot to mention that patrols never attack you no matter your fame level. Its only if you actually get near the tribe location to the inhabitants there attack you.

On the other hand patrols of friendly tribes don't help you either. But if you run into the tribe of a friendly tribe the inhabitants will help you.
