Nevrax will patching the ATS server this week on Thursday:

Previously announced for the 16th, the outposts will be patched on the ATS this Thursday the 17th, during the day.

As currently planned, the ATS will be open to all the Ryzom subscribers about one week later.

Cool stuff. But I'm unclear on a couple of things.

This sounds like all new crafting plans will be available at each outpost. But....

Quote:
When you conquer an Outpost, you won't directly get a reward or a bonus. You'll have to actually use the Outpost, by placing a forage building on the Outpost, which will allow you to dig more deeply into Atys' ground and reach new raw materials and consumable items. They will depend on the Outpost you are controlling.

The last line here gives the impression that not all new raw materials will be available at each outpost which I am assuming that would mean not all new crafting plans could be built at each outpost. It all makes sense to me and I agree we shouldn't be able to craft all 92 new plans from one outpost but many of us are waiting for detailed information on the differences between each type of outpost so we can choose which type of outpost we want to control. For example, if I am primarily an armor crafter why would I want to control an outpost that gives materials for weapons? Any chance we can get more detailed info on what the differences will be between controlling a Farm as opposed to a Research Center or Magic Pole, etc?

Any chance of getting answers to questions like this before outposts go live? Thanks in advance.

Will we need a distinct installation of the SoR Client or will it be possible to connect to the ATS with our 'normal' client?

You can't connect to ATS using your normal client. If they give everyone access to the ATS forums, there are instructions there on how to set up your ATS client.

Will you be copying our characters over to the ATS as taking the time to configure a generic toon with set skill levels will deter many form testing in my opinion.

Aditionally, instructions on taking your key/interface configuration as wellas your map markers/etc. to the ATS would be nice.

Noin.

Noin.Ideally for this test they should copy our characters over anew... they do testing differently depending on what needs to be done.

A seperate install is needed for sure, depending on whether or not they copy folks over you may need to recopy your maps/keys files again after character creation. Otherwise it is fairly easy...

The key is that everyone that goes onto ATS knows what they need tested and focus on that while providing maximum feedback. Those that jump on to play with outposts and don't give feedback on every little thing cannot gripe much when/if bugs are not found/fixed :P

Hardest thing until they open it to all will be arranging groups/teams to properly test the functions. Hard to have an outpost war if nobody arrives :)

Agreed, some list of things to be tested/played with... maybe as a MOTD or some other way would be nice.

I agree in focused testing... if folks know what that is...

Noin,

Your currrent Live toons will not transfer over. On the new server your character list will be blank, and you need to create new ones.

Each new toon will start at lvl 150 in all skills, and you have 28000 skill points to spend at each trainer... as well as 30 million dapper in your inventory.

As far as transfering keys and maps over thats simple.

In your ryzom folder on your HD, there is a "Save" folder. Inside that are files for each of your toons.

when you download the ATS configure tool, you will duplicate your entire ryzom folder... one that is specific for ATS. Once done, load ATS and create a toon. Then, you can log out. Go to the above "save" folder, in the duplicated Ryzom folder, and copy your current Noin keys and interface... then rename the copied one to the name of the toon you created on ATS. that way you will have all the maps and keys the same as with your live toon.

Heh... now, did any of that make sense? :)
