Games Television (http://www.gamestelevision.net/) (G.TV) came to visit Nevrax in Paris yesterday, and spent the whole day with us at the studio to prepare a television program about Ryzom, and more especially about the Ring. Many questions were asked of course, and a sneaky camera was wandering all over the place too. :)
The program will last one hour and will be broadcasted this week-end, on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29, at 8pm (GMT+1). It will present Ryzom and the people behind it, through interviews of David Cohen Corval, Ravna - Lead Event Manager, and Daniel Miller - Rē Producer. Then there will be a presentation of the Ring: its tools, its purposes... That should be interesting. ;)

Souls that link gives a 404. You need to take out the "target"_blank for it to work.

in order to be able to watch it one has to be a subscriber to an additional pay-per-view service of a certain german digital cable provider. as far as i could see it is not very wide-spread, so the chances of anyone actually watching AND recording it are VERY slim. :(
of course if a recording turns up i will do my best and subtitle it.

behind the matis was that idea of offering that organisation that is monarchy where you have the system of worship and where the appearance, ranks, the titles are important and that is very colorful. so the game is built around contrasts, so the matis are, you know, the, the, the, the, the white, and where you would have the very opposite of the matis are the fyros for example.

they only made that short part available, i don't know wether they can't make more available or wether it's due to bandwidth. offers to help in the second case have already been made.
Edit: nvm, the rest is simply not worth translating, it's a simple description of ryzom, highlighting how it kept afloat despite adverse circumstances and then a description of the matis.

quite honestly, still not worth the effort, they're simply describing the game, the four races, the religions, actions, guilds, the outposts and mention events. the more interesting parts are what david has to say(which he does in english), but sadly it doesn't seem like he knows much about the game as he speaks purely in roleplay terms and also makes mistakes. for example he says that when you concentrate on one skill and advance in it you forget things in another skill, which simply isnt true. :/

The way I understand it is that he's describing the analogy to real life, not how it's handled in-game.
On the other hand, there's a lot of helpful information for new players, for example the stanza system that's not handled in-depth in the manual, the tutorial, or elsewhere besides the forum.
I'd say it's a nice appetizer to show to your not-yet-addicted friends ;)
EDIT: No offense meant... I think I misunderstood your "not worth the effort" for "not worth downloading" when I should have read "not worth translating"
;)

I must say that I took a peek at the videos while I was working, just running in the background till I heard some english mostly.
If you watch the section with Daniel Miller, it seems that it will be fairly easy for folks who can conjure up stories to tell those stories. Granted, they had some stuff on fast-forward, but it still seems pretty stable and robust.
I just hope they throw the terrain editor in soon, or at least make a new guide team of terrain builders. That could work with the active Ryzom Ring content creators to put out new terrains that are requested. Tweaks of terrains would seem fairly easy too.
Noin.
