This macro makes targeting a source much easier, especially when you dig around fat mobs. I use Knowledge 1, anything above that would be too hard to handle. I couldn't write [ and ] on my keyboard so I had to write it on Notepad and copy it.
And no comments about the hair, please ;)
Edit: I have my standard dig action as shortcut 3 on shortcut bar 3
Edit 2: added how-to below
1. Open Macro window, it's under System or use shift-k
2. Click New Macro and give it a name and a shortcut key, mine is 4 on the numerical keyboard
3. Click Add Command and choose category Actions and action Target an entity.
3b. If you're not using Knowledge stanza write Raw Material Source, if you use Knowledge 1 write (for example )Fiber, and repeat the procedure until you listed all possible mats. This will target anybody's sources, not only your own so you will need to add your name after, like this: Fiber [Aragorn] to only dig your own sources.
4. When you listed all possible mats, you click Add Command and choose category Actions and action Select Shortcut Bar and write the number of the bar where you have your Extraction action.
5. Click Add Command and choose category Actions and action Run Shortcut and write the number of the slot where you placed your Extraction action.
6. Click Ok and go out there and dig you lazy homin.

and a handy one for careplanners........
target entity. (insert name here)
chat in around '/follow'
target targets current target
run shortcut X
this is such a lazy macro cos if they don't have anything selected you will go on follow if they decide to move.

i've never used macro's for foraging, mostly becuase:
1) it doesnt seem any quicker than clicking a source and then a shoutcut key
2) you cant check the # of mats in the source
what am i missing?

I think you're missing a dozen bodocs camping on your source :)

yeah i'm going to have to agree with rushin.. the need of knowing what is in the source first is pretty important. nothing worse than digging a node with 9 mats in it when you normally dig twice that.

I hate digging :p But I had my macro set to...
Mac 1(The windows key)---- oh yeah I forgot...it also switches to my dig bar with the same button:p*Target entity >Resource name<* --> *Run shortcut ##*
then had my CP set to my aps key (which are right next to eachother)
so wit 2 buttons I dig :p and watch TV(or played Xbox :D) most of the time >.> only way *I* Made it to 123(DF) in any dig lol...

I have a german keyboard layout, and I normally have to use AltGr to reach [ and ]. That doesn't work in the game, but if i press AltGr and the right Ctrl key, it works for me.

Hehe, yeah. Made that screenshot a keeper. :D
Macroes have a lot of good uses, would be really nice if Nevrax added regex ability to it. Then you only needed one macro for sources. :)
P.S. Ulani add a quick howto and you have a sticky topic. :p

the only thing i do differently here, is instead of target entity... i use target teammate #1, means it requires less frequent editting
( i do have another that targets by name, but use it for out of team stuff instead :) )

The aforementioned big-butted bodocs and armas squatting on the source you want. Tried for hours to select sources that way with the mouse, all I ever got were bodocs and armas. Resources disappeared before I could find a way to select one of them.
single keyclick (I bound my macro to 'Q') is definitely faster than mouse-click and key-click
two or more sources literally on top of each other. Trying to select the one I want with the mouse is frustrating. The macro gives you a "priority" order, so the more important (to you) resource gets selected for harvesting.

Great guide and screenie, Ulani.
I've pasted a link on our website to this. Would you mind if I copied and pasted it all in? (Giving you credit, OF Course.)

Piece of cake.
I have JUST the targetting commands in a macro. Hit that, you have the resource targetted. Then amble over to it, and scope the mat count. If you like it, [b]THEN[b] you hit your dig action.
