Please discuss this in a calm and civil manner......
/sarcasm off. Anyway, this can be discussed in any way you want.
As long as personal attacks stay out of this thread im happy..
Here goes:
The ability to declare guildwars.
Give us a chance to declare guildwars on the other guild.
When a guild declares guildwar on a guild. The other guild gets a notification, and if they choose to accept all members of both guilds will be "tagged" to each other. (this is consensual pvp btw, since the guildleader of the challenged guild MUST accept before they can be attacked).
The guildwar goes on until someone ends it, but implement a way to count the kills made by each guild.
Remember, this is IN NO WAY SOMETHING I TRY TO FORCE ON ANYONE.
Its a suggestion and its PURELY consensual.

The ability to declare guildwars.
This was planned months (more than one year tho) ago and we got an official statement, GvG being one of the "PvP strike team" (using Nevrax & Ms. Mulligan own terminology) planned features.
As usual, it was later dropped "until further notice". So, well, it's on the ToDo list (the evergrowing one) so... "wait and see".

I used to 'target' the crafting players of a guild when this system was in use in another game. And I know full well that what I was doing could be seen as griefing...though I put the responsibility at the guild leaders feet for entering the conflict. So my experience of PvP is one of 'interpretation' of the rules, and he desire to 'win' at any cost. Fair play is not my primary concern when I participate in conflict.
I do not see the GvG option as community building.
edit - civil enough response for you Tigrus ?

Wasn't it originally intended to be part of OPs? That when one guild declared on another guild's OP, they were effectively at war? Or am I getting my broken promises mixed up? ;)

how small a guild did you have ?
any large guild will have a spectrum of players, some of whom have no desire to be involved in random PvP.. this option would force them to be victims or leave their guild.
Consensual PvP means YOU get to choose to do it.. not your guild leader, not the hairy little freaks that hang around the TP altars..
the PvP tag system as controlled by the player works. If you want GvG fights the option is available in Nexus or ToT.. and that is under the participants control.

Oh im not thinking about war against the OP.
Im thinking declaring a war that ends when you end it manually.
Meaning it can last for months or hours.
Flamewars also become a part of it usually. (its still consensual btw).

Btw, all those threads refer to a guildwar in swg. No need to read if not interested.
I liked those wars. So did they. And even though there was flaming, we all said we missed it when we ended it.
I want similar ones in ryzom. perhaps without the flames to that degree..

My earlier post refers to SWG when I participated in guild PvP....And I can inform you I saw no 'light hearted banter', no 'jolly well done chaps'..and certainly no desire for a repeat performance...this war lasted almost 18 months (RL time). It decimated the guild non combat population...which in turn effected their city economy....etc etc etc....
In summary, The PvP community won't play with me because I don't play nicely :(

This is one reason I for one don't care for this kind of pvp, but that bieng said strictly GVG over Op's is fine by me cause the war is over fairly quickly! Another reaseon I don't care for this is TP campers Stacking DP so it's near impossible to play:( not to mention all the flaming that would go on because of the war bleeding over into other peoples play time. Like others have said this is an escape for me and I don't want to hear the flames as a result of a GVG battle. While I know your intentions are noble Tigrus, there are others out there that may not be.

If we were all adult about it it could be great fun..
But unfortunatley I think it would get a bit flamey..
Also many guilds have a cross section of players .. some that like PVP and some that dont. thus alienating or upsetting half the guild when a decision to/not "guildwar" is made one way or the other.
Also would make digging a PITA big time :p
Suppose we could have guild war days.. where just for a day we could bash each other asuming everyones approval.. could be fun..
Jurys out for me on this one.

Hehe we can always say that this previously announced and planned feature has been put on hold considering the player feedback, the current situation, the priority given to other PvE elements so players can impact the living world in game and all happy and exclaiming "Wow great news"

If you choose to accept the guildwar, you choose to accept all aspects of it.
nobody force anyone to accept.)

Thanks but no thanks. I've seen the effects of it in SWG and I did not see it as beneficial, community building or even 'fun'.

There would need to be an option for players to refrain from the conflict for it to be worth it. Too many non-PvP people in Guilds with active PvP. There would have to be a "Conscientious Objector (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscientious_Objector)" option for the peaceful homins.

That is just the point, there will be PvP only guilds as a result of implementing such a feature.

Another idea from other games we don't want, if guilds want to fight ie choice to accept they can all meet up in a gvg area, otherwise its fragrantly easy to exploit this system really, especially if it cost money as I personally could fund a 24/7 guild war consantly without ever needing to end it with my dig level and thats not that high, also even if they had to accept in the manner you want it would be very hard to code into the game the way thing are set up I guess.
I'd say there's bigger issues for ryzom to be dealt with before we can add new pvp geatures especially as they would take a lot of effort to balance and make fair.

Not a flame but more of a comment: LT's suggestion is geared towards pvp. I personally would like to see new PvE content.
*waits for that kitin lair thing*
And no, Ring doesn't count. Doesn't have to do with Main game, and rewards system isn't even online. But you get very nice gear decay, I hear. Boo.

I'd rather personally insitute server wide pvp madness than the kitin lair if it is going to drop uber items lol. Hope it doesn't.

Knowing full well that if the whole of Atys was forced PvP active... and that at my below 100 levels would get me a lot of dead... I agree with you 100%.
