I noticed that the crafter trainers will offer you a stanza to make "Tools of quality" - but I dont see a related skill branch on the crafting tree.

So does anybody know what the benefit of these tools of quality are, and which other stanzas you must combine with them?

Toolcrafting is only usable if you have outpost materials, it enables you to make tools that might have a few boosts, fo example a pick that might prospect sources that don't blow up. I don't know the exact figures though as I've never really looked much into it. :)
