This is my attempt to help jump-start this RP forum. These posts will be a bit tongue-in-cheek. I'm a casual gamer who was drawn to MMORPGs for the RPG aspect of them; unfortunately, in my experience with four different games to date, an immersive roleplay environment is something that I've found sorely lacking. At first this was a source of much frustration and angst, but, by now, I've learned to adapt. This thread will reflect that. Hopefully my loose interpretation of what is In-Character won't offend; hopefully you will be able to relate and maybe even laugh. ;)

Just logged in for a few minutes. Horrible, horrible lag in the city, so I head out on the open road. Meet up with some kind of green tribe guys, check them out, move on.
There's a bunch of capryani and bodocs roaming around, and of course, slinking through the herds like wiley coyotes, a couple of ragus (ragusses, ragi?). I'm cautious, as I remember being ripped to shreds recently by a couple of these things; but, it's no use--the vicious doggie has seen me and charges. I take a few steps back, brace myself, crouch as it leaps. There's a short lived fight and then we're minus one living ragus and plus one fresh ragus carcass. Huh. I straighten up. That wasn't too bad.
Hey, there's another one, heading for those bodocs. I keep it in my sights as I catch my breath and rest for a minute. I can see it weaving in and out of the trees. As it recedes in the distance, I advance, tracking it through the sparse forest. I catch up to it as it's eyeing a couple of bodoc stragglers hungrily. Filthy carnivore.
I'm on it...and instantly regretting it. It's eating me like a farmer eats sausage and bacon after a good night's sleep. I'm still a bit dazed from the previous fight, and unable to heal myself as of yet, so I just keep hacking at the damn thing and shoving my off-hand dagger into it's eyes, paws, rib--poking the little weapon wherever I can. I swear this growling, mad beast has opened my jugular; blood everywhere. Just as I'm about to pass out, I slam the hilt of my sword repeatedly into its snarling maw. The ragus collapses with a whimper, and I realize: hey, not all of that was my blood, after all.
I stagger back to the relative safety of the road, but not until I've pulled the ugly thing's teeth and taken what bones are left unbroken. Those things fetch good prices.

The connection finally kicks in and my stats power up. My inventory fills up. I look around and try to shake off that bizarre hallucination of that little box with the caption: "Please wait" that keeps appearing every time I wake up.
Oooooh, look--snow. It's cold. Glad I'm wearing boots. Poor Lini Cacioni is running around in her bra and undies. She's either poor or insane. She needs to take a cue from her relative, Lena Cacioni, who walks by in full heavy armor and holding a massive two handed sword. Actually, that seems a little over-the-top for walking around the city. I mean, there are some bodocs milling around, but that's it. I know that the things are overbreeding and need to be kept in check, but I think Lena's taking herself a bit too seriously. I don't know Lini or Lena, but I know their names, because they walk around with them floating above their heads. People are kinda weird here.
At any rate, I'm tired of killing stuff. It makes me feel mean. So, I've got this nice little pick and I go and scrape around on some glowing green resource nodes. A couple of them blow up on me. Some noxious gas is released. I don't stress out about it though, because I've been to see the fight trainer quite a few times, and he's toughened me up to things like that. Heck, if I can be torn to shreds and bloody ribbons by snarling carnivores, I can take a little toxic vapors and exploding dung resin.
Hmmm. My body seems to be locking up. Legs... tightening... can't step... try... to... turn... end up... facing... other... direction... "Please wait." A wandering bodoc stutters out its gutteral howl; sounds like he's having trouble, too. The magic sap of Atys must be acting up. "Please wait." Half of my armor disappears. This is alarming. "Please wait." Must... trudge... on. Towards the edge of town. If I can make it to the road... will have freedom... of movement. Ug. Almost... there. Almost... there.
Whew! I run around and shine this light from my left hand. It's this nifty trick that the harvester trainer taught me. Little sparks fall on the ground and detect where the glowing green nodes of dung resin are. Darn, there aren't any here.
Ooooh, look. A couple of doggies. If they see me, they will try to eat me. I back up, shove my pick in my pack, unsheathe my long sword and dagger. I peep from behind a tree. Yeah; there's one close by and another a little farther away. I bet if I make a small meow sound, the nearest one will growl and try to eat me, but the other one will stay in the background and howl.
"Meow." Yes!!!! It worked. Haha! Hack, slash. I make the little bugger bleed. I like to do this because I feel bad when I see these verminous carnivores bullying the docile Capryani. I mean, these quadrapeds can't even quarter what they hunt. They eat the meat and leave the rest, like picky little children. Massive, massive waste of resources; they leave bones, hide, eyeballs, and ligaments behind. I don't like that. Just because I'm a bit of a hunter doesn't mean I'm not a conservationist. With these enviromentally-conscious thoughts on my mind, I slice the ragus's stomach open, decisively ending its heedless existence.
Oh, nice! Quality 34 bone.

Lag? Connection? Hmmm sounds like more Karavan tricks to me.

NOTE: OOC
[[I don't really play this character anymore, so I probably will not be updating this. I am playing a Tryker now and, once I get to mainland and become involved with other players there, I hope to post more stories. They may be a bit different than the above, but, after all, that may be a good thing. ;)
Thanks for reading.]]
END EVIL OOC
There, that oughtta prevent any RP-centric jabs by the likes of Raynes.
