So, someone with money takes over running Ryzom and things get back into gear.
What'd you want to see changed/prioritised/finished/done?

well okay i'm new but i have been playing long enough to find some unfinished pitfalls
I keep getting bits and pieces of the encyclopedia (just by accident) but its clear that its somehow bugged so I hope they fix that because that was neat to me as far as story and a direction goes when I am not out levelling or crafting and such
I also love the ryzom ring I'm not sure what they can do to make it better but one thing is that if people didn't have to be online when they put their scenarios online so that we could play them (i know i dont think babysitting a scenario is a fun thing to do hehe)
Oh and I wanted to do ranged but there is something horribly wrong in there somewhere so I would like that they make it so i can do some damage without using 2000000 bullets :)

most likely i want a World chat, so the few players on can talk to others when they are not in a faction, also that you are being given a message when somebody in your guild or friend list logs on.

Bug fixes.
interface improvements.
Options to pay for increased guild and apartment storage.
A reason for pvp that doesn't pertain to OPs.
Bodoc mounts, not that they're fast, just because it would be like Mongo from Blazing Saddles.
stanzas from tribes.
Ways to obtain gear from drops (maybe).
and, importantly:
ADVERTISING to draw more subscribers.

Storage! Storage and more Storage!
Outposts
Some non-PvP outposts as was stated in the manual, you were supposed to be able to take them over diplomatically iirc.. Kind of like the scenario where you provide them with certain amount of materials, or completing certain missions for them (cant find manual atm).
The current OP's should have tribes attacking them once every forthnight or something similar, instead of the current system where you hold them with zero effort or upkeep. ....Of course im not taking into account the often stressful guild politics because im only dreaming about the possible changes to game mechanics
Edit,,, lmao Souls :D

Fix all the bugs first. Get that Raid system back up and working! \o/
Complete Encyclopedia.
Tribes <--I want more interaction. I want fame with them to mean alot more like it should be. They are an integral part of Ryzom...it would be great to make them really matter. This is where they can even implment a way to get outpost diplomatically.
Crafting Patterns <--As a crafter, I want new patterns . Patterns earned through rites based on crafting levels and fame (possibly patterns that only need certain high tribe fame and others that need high faction fame). I'd love to be able to make a complete set that goes with the faction caster pants each side was able to get.
New Stanzas <--As someone that enjoys both melee and magic, I'd love to have more stanzas to play with. Though, I'd prefer them to focus on the melee. Love for there to be more stanzas that belong only to certain melee skills. Most likely, make them only accessible through rites/encyclopedia.
New Lands <-- No, I don't want a damn level cap raised but I'd love new lands just to explore. Maybe new mobs and introduce new skills that you can level in them. Or just make these mobs stronger (like PR mobs) to bring on the challenge of exploring even if you have a couple of 250 zones.
More Money sinks <-- Make it so we can buy additional storage space for our apartments and guild halls. Have the city charge us a "Tax" for residing in said city...but if we're citizens of that city, we get a nice reduced rate. Same applies for guilds. Make it so we can buy stuff to customize our apartments.
Speaking of Apartments/Guild Halls <-- Make it so we can invite anyone INTO the apartment or guild hall. Have it so ya can give them permission to take out things (this would only apply to apartment).
More customization for merchants <-- Search by crafter/seller. Make it more effecient to sell things on to the merchant (maybe a sell all? Must be coded right so people don't accidently sell the wrong stuff).
New Mounts <-- We tamed Mektoubs! We can tame other mobs too! >.<;
Herbie Repellant <-- Yes, I want to make a gingo/varinx/torbak a pet and have him keep the herbies away (anyone recall that fear bug that allowed to make them follow you but not attack you? Yeah they were great keeping those herbies from sitting on my sources).
More Emotes <-- Oh come on...I really would love more animation.
More unqieu characters <-- Hell, I'd like more ways to customize your toon, period. New hairstyles, tats, etc.
Oh I have a gazillion other stuff...but yeah..that's enough from me. :p

-Fix the broken classes. 2years and range is still unreasonably hard to play? I know the diehards that love it love it how it is..but comon...you can just look around and see that almost no one plays range because of its unreasonable weight restrictions...it doesnt take 2 years to balance this out.
-A way to host R2 without having to be in it. This really sucks...R2 rules but its near un-usable for those that don't want to babyset it all the time.
-More than just 1 graphic for each armor/weapon set. I love the graphics in this game, bit its sad that after 2 years all they have is 1 type of HA for reach race with subtle color swaps and texture changes. Anyone that is worth paying for is able to crap out weapons that look like ryzoms in about 2-4 hours max with textures, these arent that hard to make guys that it should be 2 years in and theres still no variety in this game.
-Headgear other than just HA. Beefy would love a delightful hat in time for christmas, this year however i'm not able to give it to him without it having Malus on it for a caster.

I think a PvE server comes to mind... or a PvP server, to act like flypaper :P
EDIT:
Actually, seriously, I think there are irreconcilible differences between the two gamestyles now. A PvE/PvP server split - if accompanied by new player intake - would probably be a massively positive step.

Enabling the full Encyclopedia would be good.
A World chat where you can chat without lurkers who unlurk long enough to snipe at you for chatting, then lurk when people ask questions. Because Atys can be vast and lonely for the unguilded. In the meantime, the chatters answer 90% of the questions, let them chat!
Copy and paste for moving and organizing custom actions across bars. I currently am stuck with themed bars not well organized because re-creating all those custom actions on a different bar would be a royal pain.
I don't think merchants will ever be able to stack all of the similar items for sale by players, because it has to remember that this stack's dappers go to Terri Tryker and that stack's dappers go to Freddy Fyros. Now if you could combine all the items for purposes of display and still keep track of them (like some first in/first out stack) that might be possible, but not being a programmer I have no idea how daunting it would be. Also it might put people so deep in the stack that they never sell anything before it times out, wheras now anyone's stack of Yubo butts has as much chance to sell as anyone elses. Spreads the dappers around.
Tighter or more versatile filters would maybe reduce the merchant "load time" as well as people learning how to use the filters effectively.
Make the entire skilltree surfable, if not ingame, on the official site *somewhere* so people don't have to try to get onto a fansite (if they are lucky) to see this information.
Prune the skilltree of chaff, even if you raise the point cost of some of the remaining skills so the overall work to advance stays the same. I'm really not convinced there is a need for thousands of skills.
Do I really need to track to 75 meters for materials up to Choice that can be used for clothing and happen to be next to a tree if there are no yubos within 25 meters, if not raining and only during a season other than Autumn?
It gets a bit nuts when you have 20 skillpoints to spend and 100 options. I'm a newb. I don't know what all this stuff does, but I know I should spend the points on something.
I get the idea about wanting people to be able to customize and specialize, but for harvesting, it seems the goal is pretty basic: hunt it up, dig it up and don't blow it up. Some of the tweaks I've bought, I can't even tell the difference between using and not using them.
Make ammo less heavy!
I'm out of ideas. I'm a newb.

I'll whine about something for neutrals :)
Since we're talking dreams, don't bind a player's neutrality to their guild's neutrality. I -love- my guild, my friends but I -hate- being un-able to align in any fashion. Take away my PvP flag, my faction chat what have you but atleast give me uncapped fame and teleports :( I fail to see how a factionally aligned person can't put aside their differences and come together for some common cause.
Cooking as a craft! Oh my goodness yes please. Every other game I've played I've been a cook, cause I have great great fun with it.
Fishing, as already suggested. It's a wonderful thing to do while chatting and hanging out and can be a really in depth and rewarding system. For an example of what fishing can be take a look at FFXI's fishing. From a fun mini game, to quested fishing items, to server wide fishing compititions, risking your life to catch that one big legendary fish. SO much fun, would add a lot of content to Ryzom.
Player housing... GOOD player housing. If every game other than WoW can do, so can Ryzom. Player housing would open up another craft to learn as well, event items to display etc. Another of my favorite things missing from Atys.
Take a look at the Melee tree, a serious look. Compaired to, say Elemental, melee fighters have very very little to do. After a certain fairly low point the only thing we have to look forward to is the next level of Increase Damage and Accurate Attack. So many of our skills get left behind because they're simply not as useful as they should/could be.
For the love of Jena and all that is holy... I dream that whoever takes this game doesn't turn it into a PvP based WoW clone. That's my biggest dream.

As I dreamt up in a previus thread...
"*dreams* Take the Spire idea...Break it down, And use that system for towers and add it to OP defense 'instead' of guards, Have the towers maybe be able to do a bit of damage...
But make it so the owning guilds (or allies of the guild) Crafters/Diggers have to build the towers... and in order to take the OP the towers must be destroyed in the 2 hour period(Limit the amount of towers ofc so you can't have a super un defeatable OP :P)
You can even make it so crafters/diggers can do/repair damage durring the fights... (This too would have to be limited, Atleast on the defending side(they would need to be OP tagged to do it))... Crafters could make ranged weapons and Ammo to install on the tower... And thats what would do the damage(Imagine,A launcher on it... that would need to be reloaded! that would get crafters into the battles more!)... Or an Armor maker could make Armor to increase its defense!
Get the diggers/crafters invovled some...
Those are just a few ideas... I could think of so much more for OPs :p ahh They would be SO much fun for even more people if they were added too!
You could even have jewel crafters make resist jewels that would make magic do less damag to the tower."
Yeah I still dream about better OPs... OPs could just be so much more fun then they are now.
2--Fix the rest of the bugs in the game would be nice...
3--Make it so Armour can have your guild emblem on it...
Thats all I feel like typing now, Even tho I copy/pasted my dream for OPs :p

RGB values used in crafting armours to determine colour
Coloured map markers (maybe even as a rite reward)
Guild hall "slots" for members so you can leave equipment etc that they can take out themselves.
Crafting option from appartment
Op buildings with some use to make them less static
Frivolous add--ons for appts and Guild Halls (something for a money sink anyway)
An in game journal for making notes
Kitin patrols back in Prime Roots (its way too easy now)
but more than anything all I want to see is Ryzom survive, the rest can wait, I/we have waited long enough for most of it anyway :)

After seeing the latest additions/fixes the devs have been working on for the test server I am starting to believe in dreams :)
I'm sure most of us agree that the encyclopedia and rites being finished would be a great addition. In time I'd also like to see some of the following implemented:
More guild management options:
Different choices of guild structure
Customisable guild ranks/titles
Customisable guildhall access (eg. a certain member can get weapons but not cats)
In-game guild votes (in certain guild structures)
The ability for guild members to remove an inactive/inept leader (in certain guild structures)
Guildhall logs to see who has added/taken what
The ability to hire NPC trainers for your guildhall, who have some variations on the skills available from the town trainers, but maybe cost the guild huge amounts of dappers per week to hire (more for better trainers). Maybe even limited amounts of the better trainers who are hidden in various lands and quests need completing in order to hire them.
Extra Guildhall storage available, again at a high cost per week
Guild owned shops/market stalls which need to earn enough money regularly or get regular payments from the guild or they disappear
Some changes to the economy:
More mats dropped in proportion to the level of the creature killed, giving more chance for higher levels mats to go on the market.
The type of mats dropped to depend on some extent how the creature is killed. So for example something killed with blunt weapons/shockwaves will drop more skin, but less bone.
Traders give less money for goods, so players are more reliant on selling things that might actually be wanted by others. Money can still be made on inferior items by providing tribes/city NPCs with the items they want.
I like the farming/fishing ideas, but feel these would need to be tied in with homins getting hungry. There could be a new skill set for farming, fishing and generally preparing food - maybe tied in with tool crafting/bag making (furniture too?). The better you are at preparing food, the smaller and more nutritious (and valuable) it becomes. Having to eat and making sure you're carrying some food may get frustrating for players, but the more there is that we need to spend money on the better the economy will be.
New crafting plans for clothes or armour variations which maybe involve missions mats to dye armour/clothes new colours or add certain properties (eg. a wisdom bonus).
City taxes to pay for the guards and trainers. I guess if we're talking dreams, I'd want eventually to see options for player governments with the ability for some economic control and have something like the proposed spires tied in with that, so that members of a city need to provide mats/weapons & armour/dappers (& food?) to the city to allow it to build armies to gain control over or defend certain regions as well as provide (player) fighters to help.
Hmm, thinking about this last option, this could possibly provide a way for outposts to be both PvP and PvE. A guild more focused on digging/crafting could pay for and equip large numbers of NPC troops and/or earn enough fame with tribes to get their help to try to take an outpost - just a thought.

some things I'm dreaming for
Having time to play ryzom instead of just browsing the forums from time to time :P
Make the colors on armours more specialized, meaning If your linning material is blue then the linning should show as blue and so on, or something along those lines, so that you can have multicoloured armours (we have it already but we cant decide those other colors apart from changing fro basic to medium or high quality)
Jewlery that's visible when you wear it (there are some already that come with female tops I think)
"decorating" weapons, I think there's not really a big enough difference in the looks of a basic sword compared to a high quality sword, armours have a bigger difference there, I want that for weapons to pwease ^^
Someone else mentioned, facial animations, I'd love to be able to actually smile for a screenshot, or pout for that matter :P
And to add to that, more animations in general, with now being able to do your own emotes for the animations, it'd be nice with a few more animations.
Tribes fixed to the way they were intended some time ago so that you could take over a outpost by becomming friends with the locals, could do this so you actually get a way for a not so dangerous neutral guild to get a outpost ;)
And! ohoh I'd like to decorate the guildhall/apartment, and sit on the chairs, and perhaps be able to kneel again (as a middle thing between sitting and standing, i remember we had it in beta!)
I'd like to make my own tattoos, or maybe even a hairstyle.
Underwear, yes yes I know we have hot medium armour, but y'know I'd like to be able to run around in something else then white undies, maybe some nice black ones? nice way to waste a few extra dappers ;)
I'd like a ingame noticeboard, maybe one for each capital, or in one of the outer cities (to get some more trafic there :P so many of them are dead quiet) where you can for example put up a note as healer for hire, or announce a trek going somewhere and so on (yes I know we have the outgame forums but not everyone go here ;) )
A button like the one to send tells to online people in your friends list, but that is for offline contacts instead for an ingame mail. and a notification that there's new mail for you/new posts in the guild forum.
Ok... typed for waaay too long :P now i gotta do homework -.-

On the ideas side:
Either give the non-PvP folks among us equal rewarding system, or make the PvP rewards from OP's non-significant to the general gameplay. Flowers and mats aren't too unbalancing, but either remove cats or give something equal to those who aren't interested in bashing other homins. Or then non-PvP outposts.
Taking a faction or joining a factioned guild causing permanent PvP tagging until either guild or faction is dropped. Neutrals and only neutrals should be given the freedom to tag and choose either side they please.
Taking a faction affecting use of magic or technology as defined in game lore...
Guildhall/apartment customizations and the guild trainers/vendors. The rentable or buyable extra guildhall space is a good idea as well.
Interior areas or buildings one can enter for the ring scenarios.
Implement the missing rites.
The significance of the tribes and tribe fame enhanced to other than tribe just killing homin due fame.
In general better money sinks - or binding dapper to the value of mats as mats are now the real currency in Atys.
Keep the loot from mobs as it is now, no need to add phat lewt like in some other games. Jewelry drops from "ancestors" and the bandit bosses is ok and should be kept as it is in the ATS or ingame at the moment.
Open the branches and deep roots - more areas to explore!

like someone else said earlier, take the cats out the game.
i do enjoy nuking or being nuked from time to time. i'm still new to this game.
but this particular pvp reward is just here to mess things, rivalties, bickering ect.
I agree that pvp should have his own rewards and that people who make the effort should enjoy them, but that, the guy who tought that should stop ( or start....) illegal substances......
may be op could bring some mats to craft rare weapons/armors with stats suited for the pvp activity, and new textures to make them uniques..
on the rest well, encyclopedia could be nice. good excuse to talk to that barman again :)

Ive been having this idea for some time :
for PvP players who like to RP :
A special tag that once activated allows you to kill all the players wearing that tag regardless of faction, guild etc. If you kill someone, the cities of the victim's race will want your head and u will be KOS as soon as the guards see u. A reward is awarded to any player who kills the murderer (could set up an npc who shouts the names of wanted killers and the rewards or better still have posters on the walls all over the towns :D) The reward depends on the civ fame of the victim and the number of kills. Once you've commited a crime you can no longer turn your tag off for a limited time (and im not talking about minutes or hours...but days) the more pple you kill the higher the timer is.
this tag could allow people to roleplay : serial killers, mass murderers, assassins, mercenaries, terrorists, private detectives...
yes ANOTHER pvp thing...which imo is FAR more interesting than the faction tags ;) makes the game look more...real ! if u see what i mean.
oh well, just a dre-e-e-e-eam :D

One more thing to fix - make 2 star bosses spawn based on time only - and remove the spawning at server boot thus removing camping and giving every player equal opportunity in getting the boss.

#1 - New content (bwahahaha): lands, mobs, skills, spells, clothes, etc.
#2 - Rites / Serious quests: not mini-quests, but long, hard quests with suitable rewards
#3 - More storyline: get past the Kitin menace and faction Cold War, and onto actual battles between Kami and Karavan. Jena!

spot on snake, everything you suggested sounds great, PR is crying out for help, make digging down there harder but make supreme materials not always weathered!
agreed on the common factors, fix rites, range, make fame have more consequence etc...
Other things I'd like to see....
Wandering tribes behave according to your faction with them
A tool craft skill
RGB values used in crafting armours to determine colour
Coloured map markers (maybe even as a rite reward)
Guild hall "slots" for members so you can leave equipment etc that they can take out themselves.
Crafting option from appartment
Op buildings with some use to make them less static
Frivolous add--ons for appts and Guild Halls (something for a money sink anyway)
An in game journal for making notes
Kitin patrols back in Prime Roots (its way too easy now)
but more than anything all I want to see is Ryzom survive, the rest can wait, I/we have waited long enough for most of it anyway :)

let the camping begin ;-)
it would be best if bosses/named would pop based player action and not by "every 50min" (for example)
kill X mobs in Y timeframe, you have A% to get named.
kill X mobs in Z timeframe, you have B% to get boss (with minions).
much more fun to camp najab/plod spot ;-)
ofcourse, it may upset someones who dont want to work for boss pop ;-)

what about having some 2black star bosses+minions patrolling arround an area and migrating (similar to slayer kipee + minions in scortched), would make hunting them much more interesting, pulling more taxing, camping less common, more dangerous for anyone digging not looking over thier shoulder.

I have to say, I don't like this idea at all :p ... You shouldn't HAVE to PvP to join a faction (You don't now), And this would lead to alot more people whining. As they get killed while digging/hunting and such... And then it really will be "To get PR TPs you HAVE to PvP" Unlike it is now where people can just join a faction and go if they really want,Without ever having to PvP, Which will lead to MORE whining about PvP only content...
Just my opinion on that ;)

First of all this game needs an effective Dev Team that is able to release new content quickly (best would be every month) without ruining and bugging half of the game everytime... then the new dev team needs a crystal clear roadmap thats not only based on some gamer wishes/ideas and also includes dev ideas. And since this wont happen.. my hopes are very very low for this game... especially when you know how many new MMO titles will hit the market next year...

In Matis lands in the Majestic Garden there is one like this its a giant Yubo named Onu and it has to be a she it just looks like that, but my biggest want is to kill that Giant boss Yubo, I'm just afraid that I will get accused of Yubo abuse if I do. Anyhow not sure about the rest of the areas as I am still in the Majestic Garden crafting and levelling and playing and getting fame points. (I'm slow /shrug) I do still think these bosses exist though if Onu is any indication...

Hmm.
Well, I's a newb at this game, but I'll give my ha'pennyworth. For me:
Fix targeting system. If I press targeting key I'd like it to cycle through mobs in my field of view.
Movement breaks casting. This is the only game I've played where movement does not break a current action. It strikes me as unnatural having to hold down Ctrl+S rather than just run. Being "rubber-banded" back to mobs you're fleeing from is also most vexing.
Being struck by mobs when you are not within melee range. I run from a Ragus, can barely see it in my "rear-view mirror", yet it can still hit me for 20% of my HP? This hardly seems reasonable.
Now I don't know about this, but resists seem to me to be a little weird. When I was 90-ish ele I had no problem killing Timmies, but 20-ish levels later (with 100% success rate on acid and root) it seems that 80%-90% of spells are resisted against mobs that are below my ele skill range (e.g. a 110 timmie defeats 100% of my root attempts, 100% of my acid attacks, but fails to resist any of the attacks of the Illustrious Zora Guards). Am I missing something here? My 50-ish melee doesn't get resisted / dodged / evaded / parried anywhere near as often.
Oh, and more rites and benefits for fame gains with factions other than the "big six", as has been mentioned by many others.
Anyway that's all that frustrates me right now.

I left newbie island a month ago but I have yet to see some kind of red thread through all this.
(okeh.. My friends started in all 4 corners of the world, I have a single quest in my log as I start, to look up a chest. I'm gonna try go this way, hmm.. level 50-59 gingo biting my ass, oh well..)
More information on 'why am I here?' 'Where am I going?' type questions would be great, i.e. quests, talkative NPCs and such. Being a newbie on main land is one big void zone as it is now, it discourages quite a lot of new players from continuing and it's a shame because it's really a great game once you meet someone to play with.

That's a pretty good one. And a big bug. The gingos will be much less annoying if this bug is solved. And the speed-up ability mucho more useful (By now, if you use it with few HP, they hit you at least three times until they left combat. Usually kill you).

It's not a bug persay, just a result of synchronization lag. The server sees you behind where you see yourself. If you ever have two computers running different charaacaters side by side you'll see just how long your actions actually take to happen.
I'm not very server saavy, but I don't see how changing the game code would get your input information to the server faster.
aardnebb
December 7th, 2006, 04:04 AM
I'm pretty sure this isnt a bug, more of an issue with client-server lag. You (the player character) move on screen instantly, but in reality your move command is sent to the server, and _then_ you move. This is why stuff sometimes seems to... stutter (or stand still for for a few moments, then speed off incredibly fast). Your movement does seem to slow down when suffering prolonged lag, but sudden or irregular lag spikes seem to cause this effect the most.
With a 200ish ping I never get by stuff that "shoulda been out of range", but when its like 500-600 I do notice the odd such occurance.
On a related note, on my old PC I noticed that when a _lot_ of stuff was going on, your actions seemed to slow down along with the frames per second... (dont believe me? if you dont have a high end PC first try a bombheal one a single target standing alone... time it. Then fire a large bombnuke that has the exact same time taken in the info box at an OP battle into a crowded fight... sysinfo goes _slooow_ and your "next action" bar even slower!)

I agree with Zahan, and Sehraci -- the above isn't a bug. It's a consequence of the way that Ryzom handles player input.
It's well known that players with faster framerates (computers) run faster tahn those of us on older hardware.
That means that ryzom is written to favour the actions of the player versus where the server decides you are at any given time. It makes the gameplay very smooth and responsive, but does have such odd side effects.
The hit happened when your avatar's server position said it was next to the mob, there is time involved in it sending you the hit information, telling your toon to act hit, and updating your stats, in the meantime, you have sent to the server and processed on your client many movement updates, so the server then decides you're away from the mob unless it gives chase ;).
It's also a 'gift' from the devs, as you really did move where your PC says you did, so you only suffer one hit from the mob. if your avatar was where the server had calculated you to be, or waited for the next server update to update your client position, you'd be hit a lot more.
My problem with the system is that essentially, it's almost unfair to some players while being more than fair to others. Slower PC means the mob may catch you when movement rates are relatively similar, but I believe they cap the upper end on speed to avoid too much advantage either way.
They'd have to, or they couldn't stop a hacked client from moving faster than any other homin. Mind you, in MMOs you usually don't let half arsed hacked clients even connect, so this mitigates that problem a fair bit (they usually have checksums or various things on the files to say if your client is altered from what the right client is at connectoin time, which is also how they can self patch).
And yes, the mob 'speed run' is the server re-updating within a closer range to you (possibly some multiple of the far clipping plane away), all mobs' positions, based on where your client was rendering them at the time. You tend to cut down the transmission of data for entities further away, except in very gross terms, to cut your bandwidth footprint (otherwise, you'd flood out the clients' network stack).
In other MMOs, you experience the opposite problem, you may have heard of the term 'rubber banding', that's the opposite type of system, where the server is always in charge of the simultation, but you allow the client avatar to move about, when the server realises you've moved beyond an acceptible 'tolerence' in deviations, it moves you back, if your input is continously getting to the server very slow, say on a very slow network connection, your toon bounces back and forth a good deal.
I tried to explain this in as 'user friendly' of terms as I can, so there could be some liberties taken with technicalities :). I didn't write the netcode for ryzom, and only gave advice to the coder that wrote netcode for the one MMO prototype I did, so I'm not an ultimate authority in this area, but have some knowledge, so take it with a grain of salt ;) hehe.

I think a PvE server comes to mind... or a PvP server, to act like flypaper :P
EDIT:
Actually, seriously, I think there are irreconcilible differences between the two gamestyles now. A PvE/PvP server split - if accompanied by new player intake - would probably be a massively positive step.Irreconcilible differences? Only if people are too stubborn to change, and I thought the whole thing about our community is that we are better than that.
Have you jumped off the deep end? Living a hardline is not a sustainable effort. At some point either you give some (any hardliner, not you specifically) or you break. Seems like you have broken.
Maybe it's time to move on GrimJim.

There has been compromise, forced and volountary, the problem is that it does tend to be one sided and the empowerment of one side is always at the expense of the other. Empowerment of one type over another continues to allow bad apples, whether small or large in number, to cause immense amounts of issues for the others.
It wouldn't even need to be coded differently, just identified, set up and maintained with a different ethic.
We'd still have a huge number of people who had left if we'd had that divide.
It just seems that you really can't 'cross the streams' without far more problems than you get benefits and seperating the two communities with their incompatible goals seems to be the best - if also the most conventional - way to deal with the problem.
Having them in the same 'world' only works if the one has no appreciable impact on the other but that seems to have been too hard to pull off, despite claims and promises to the contrary.
If you have a better solution, by all means suggest it.

Not to mention that Jessica M. disclosing there are about 99 levels of PR. Open those too please?) and that the dev's hoped not to wait before Atys's story is finished before moving on to the 8 other planets.
* Introduce some of the other promised races! The Dark Matis and the Nomadic Fyros!
* New lands with unique environments! ie swamps, snowy mountains, oceans, etc with new mobs.
* Aquatic Mobs and diving.
* Advanced/Customizable Player housing please! (as well as allow us to invite people, have it "public", or soley "private".)

One would attract people more interested in the PvP side of things, would contain more of it with existing tools and possibilities as a result of that concentration of people because they'd be attracted to it and enjoy it more.
The other would retain a more cooperative style of play more concentrated on the PvE aspect and as each gained people and momentum in it's chosen style it should continue to snowball an appropriate community.
Transgressors moving to the 'safe haven' server to cause trouble would be subject to discipline under the existing CoC on that server. (I suspect such attempted exploitation would be one way though).
Of course, this assumes people tell the truth about their motivations and desires in choosing their style of play, in practice it often appears that it's more about spoiling other people's fun than seeking your own, which seems to be the reasoning behind thinking of pre-trammel UO as the holy grail of MMOs.

So isn't that saying separate servers wouldn't work?
And your post wasn't very specific. What exactly would happen on one server and not the other?
Factions wouldn't have tagged fights? Does that affect people who don't want to participate?
Outposts would be transferred peacefully? Is that practical? Is that really desired?
Lands of Umbra wouldn't be used for PvP? Its not used for it now... and as you say, the non-PvP shard could very well see more of it.
I do not believe there are irreconcilable differences at all and see no benefit from splitting the community.

LMAO Where have you been? The Dark Matis and Nomadic Fyros are mentioned about once a month -- mostly from me *blush* What can I say, I want the other races, dammit! :D
Here's a segment of one of his interviews.
What you as the Homin civilizations are, in fact, is just a small portion of the true Homin presence on Atys. The past Homin Nations were wider. As an example, I’ll just say that there are the Dark Matis and the Fyros Nomads who follow the herds of huge elephant like creatures which carry the Fyros villages carved in their shell.
And another nice little interesting quote:
For SoR, I have several planets in mind, plus a space dimension.

So isn't that saying separate servers wouldn't work?
It depends if people are being honest. It would work for the non PvPers as they'd have a safe haven.
And your post wasn't very specific. What exactly would happen on one server and not the other?
The communities would be different due to different desires reflected in play and the CoC document would be enforced reflecting that community. That's all.
Outposts would be transferred peacefully? Is that practical? Is that really desired?
A trawl through any PvP or Outpost discussion shows that there is a strong desire for alternative methods, but that's outside the scope of this sub-discussion.
I do not believe there are irreconcilable differences at all and see no benefit from splitting the community.
I see no benefit to mixing two communities with mutually exclusive goals when it isn't done competently and evenly. That would be the other solution of course.

What I'd really like to see:
- Major tweaks to the ranged skill-tree. Definately needs more abilities, and having ammunition weigh less would make a world of difference. And please, please, PLEASE update the ranged animations, as they're pretty much non-existent. I want to me able to see my character looking behind him and firing while he runs away from that torbak. We should also have different positions to choose from, like prone and kneeling, each with accuracy bonues.
- New armor. Come on, give us some more variety! And speaking of new outifts..
- Non-protective clothes. I'd really like to see some clothes just to hang out in. It'd be great to have stuff like this for social gatherings and the like.
- Pet training skill tree. Need I say more?
- New mounts. I bet you could work this in with the pet training skill tree.
- Allow us to zoom the camera out more.
- New areas, new mobs, etc. Maybe even let us climb up those big roots in the sky :D
- More emphasis on faction standings with tribes and races
- More emotes. /plead
- More in-game music.
- System notificiations of when friends go on and offline.
- Customizable housing, with purchasable furniture and all, and allowing us to have house guests.
- More hair-styles, tattoos, more options in character creation, etc. Maybe even more races to choose from?
Oh and last but not least:
- Kipee volume control ;)
EDIT: Why does it say I'm on free trial? O.o

Mutually exclusive = myth. Quit perpetuating it.
My own dreams include:
Patches full of bug fixes and little improvements.
Harder newbie island; tutorial missions that emphasize their utter non-epicness (essentially making it clear that you are just another of hundreds of refugees).
Native antialiasing.
A more dynamic missions system based on fluctuating needs of tribes and races, but still totally non-epic and non-backpatting with little reward.
Encyclopedia rites fixed, not to be confused with any addition of idiotic questlike missions.
Idiotic quest-like missions never to be added. Silan-like missions stay on Silan only.
Improvement of Ring: better hosting; less limitations; more building options for ruins, towns, etc.; more scenery released for use.
Hair quality improved. Specifically, there are some male-Zoraï hairstyles with nasty, odd little graphic issues.
Animations improved. There are countless glitches and twitches in homin animations. I don't understand how they survived testing?
Either a cooking skill tree, or exchangeable mission mats/items.
An alternative and optional help/tooltip system, with hints about the roleplay side of things: tips about RPing a homin, IC explanations for mechanics, etc.
People never asking for more armor or clothing options, or anything else there is more than enough of if they helped them****ingselves.

Mutually exclusive = myth. Quit perpetuating it.
It's not a myth, 'crossing the streams' doesn't work anywhere and Ryzom was no exception. Heading OT now though.

I don't see the whole "crossing the streams" thing... There are "PvPes" From Europe AND the US, I know just as many from Europe... as from the US... and alot of them are Karas lol, some Are Kami too... So either you blame US peeps for the 'problem' on this server, Which is IMO Completly preposterous... since they were mearged already when I joined Ryzom and I saw no probs... untill after EP2 And there was PvP zones when I started...Before EP2... AND there are alot of Kami/Kara PvPers from Europe too...
Or... well I don't know what else you could think/mean, Please inform me, I am curious as too exactly where you stand...

Oh and its not really OT just because we're making it clear we don't agree with you. However, it has now been done so perhaps we can agree to disagree on this particular note because whats the point.

"crossing the streams" is a reference to the film Ghostbusters and the weapons used to control the ghosts, rather than the atlantic ocean :) chuckle. At least that's the way I read it - the "streams" here being PvP play and non-PvP play.
Fingers crossed for some good news in 4 days eh? :)
Sorry Phil, had to point that one out since it generated an out-of-context US vs. UK post - pretty sure that wasn't Jyudas' intention :) (And I was polite about it, I hope? :))

A trawl through any PvP or Outpost discussion shows that there is a strong desire for alternative methods, but that's outside the scope of this sub-discussion.I'm not here to stir the pot, really. But, if you trawl those posts you will see maniacal pro-PvP folks that still want the things that the anti-PvPers want for the most part.
The fact that the execution by Nevrax has been the way it has would suggest that the solution you are looking for would be to develop 2 different games, or at least have 2 different rule sets in place on diffrernt servers. As you yourself stated, just naming it "No PvP" or "RP" with the current ruleset would result overtime in the same mix of people you have today. It's not like you would not have to kill each other to have Outposts change hands. Heck a lot of RP folks would need that.

*wonders why jyudas doesnt just play on ats, no op battles etc
can roleplay king of the world
on the less joking side, I think 2 seperate servers would be a bad thing overall, the RP server would have a low population and hence less social ability to play a role. What about those who mix the playstyle? you cant exactly play raynes without breaking a few heads etc

Roflmfao!! God I love the Csr staff here:)
MY dreams are no loot for missions, Xp and Dapper should suffice for this, The rites and encyclopedia debugged and finished, Diving while swimming, aquatic animals, New mounts ones that swim or surf boards, The Canopy opened up, deeper lvls to the PR, Social trees designed IE dancers and furnitures crafting, make appartments accessable by people other than you, the ability to furnish your appartment, Fishing would be cool, and of course new stanzas and the like for all of the existing trees!!

I'd like to see Jyrk, FH and Zora be revamped. Pyr is the only capital that looks lived in. This was probably done due to lack of time in alpha/beta and I'd be willing to bet that Pyr was the first one completed and the other 3 were rush jobs.
Rites (1st Tier Rites @ 33/34, 2nd Tier Rites @ 60, 3rd Tier Rites at 99) Money sinks (apts, gh, et al) payable each season
Ranged revamp
NPC bosses scalable to server population
Vendor sales revamp (left click, shift+Left click behavior similar to windows folders for selecting items to highlight)
New armor (starting with factional armor)
Additional tattoos/hairstyles
Instanced mob bosses (to allow everyone content not just reboot campers)
Cost/benefit for owning more than one OP (ie. the more OP's you own the greater the maint fee)
The ability to remove an apt/gh without CSR help
Civ Faction tags (curently no reason to become a citizen atm and would be excellent RP tool)
Sandstorms
True cyclical day (4 hr dawn, 8 day, 4 hr sunset, 8 hr night)
Bring back the in-map day counter
Fix all the known clipping issues with the maps
New lands with actually new textures (for the land and mobs)
New crafted item and/or Master Crafter Boost (only usable with that craft tree) for when you master a craft tree
Bring back the Resin Rite
Remove "undetermined" as a Civ.
FOCUS AURA ALREADY "Dang it! Who popped Focus aura?!?" (I always wanted to say that.)
and a few other things that slipped my mind atm.

Theres lots of things I'd like, like a decoratable appt; somewhere to invite people, the ability to sit down in chairs and to interact with the environment.
Some nicer, more practical armour for girls...I mean?
I'd like an atys time clock for us all to be able to go by...so when an event is at ...blah blah Atys time...we know what it is.
I'd like to be able to know what is going on in the ring that day...
I would like some gender neutral titles...master of life is ok and believe me I do not want to be mistress of anything...but something neutral would be cool.
More meaningful missions would be cool and not just for dappers
I like the ideas of skill trees that include muscian skills.
I would also like to see a more defined social structure so that roles like the king of yrkanis are actual players...
anyway...

I wonder if you used to play that game too. I agree on em all. I have no issues taking some of the finer points of other MMO's and porting to Ryzom if it makes Ryzom a better game. That "other" game has done the same thing at as it stands now it is a much better game than it was two years ago (in terms of balanced gameplay and bugs).
I would also love to see guilds be able to have a vendor in OP for selling of items. This vendor would not be able to be used as a hawker to sell mob/foarge mats to unload bag space but sell higher end items. But until the dapper is a useful form of currency, (current currency being the grind mat) I doubt this would be used very much.

Hey,
Now to answer Grimjim's question, I would only ask for many more lands, and a lot of progress on the lore side.

Hi all.
- Weapon specific stanzas. Attainable at level 100, 150, 200 and 250 through a Rite of some sort would be cool. It would add some sense of expertise in your favorite weapon(s). New rites are something a lot of folks want as well.
- Ranged revamp (If not done already. Can't remember the last time I logged in).
- More variance on armor/weapon bonuses so you can outfit your character for a certain type of role. Similar to how Amps can be finely tuned to enhance specfic types of magic.
- More of a question that a request for an addition. How has the game been as far as Kitin raids? It would be nice to have the Kitin raid both cities and outposts. It would also be nice if said raids had some type of objective other than "Kill the really big one." Maybe if there were certain structures that could be built in/around cities and outposts that needed protection. Affecting...something in the given region. Guess that did turn into a request. The RAID thing was what drew me to the game when it was announced. Cool mechanic that needs more dynamic use.
- All 1h weapons Dual Wield(able?). The weapons in this game (although somewhat limited in variety) look pretty cool. Having 2 would make you double cool. Melee with more options? Yes please. (Yes, I do realize the amount of time doing all the animations would take. But hey, it's a dream thread, so...)
- I'm not a fan of the existing affliction magic. It locks down the caster while they link the spell not allowing them to do anything but stand still and wait for the link to break. I would support a revamp of those particular types of magics. I did not play an afflictionist, so if that is not a major issue among those who do, then nevermind.
- More mounts. In fact, a taming skill to acquire mounts. I want to ride a Kitin. One of the small ones. Imagine riding into battle and that thing roaring (I didn't know bugs roared, but whatever) and stomping around. Of course only certain animal types would be rideable.
- More weapon/armor textures. Faction specific and upper tier race sets only attainable upon reaching 250 in a craft. Pattern attained through rite. For example you get 250 in Matis Heavy Armor, you can gain access to the rites for Matis Imperial/Defender patterns. The differences between these and the regular armors wouldn't be anything crazy, but definitely noticeable. Would not be equippable by anyone 150 or under. Same deal for weapons. Faction specific would be rite attainable at a certain faction level. Of course neutrals are included.
That's about it for my wish list. I think they are all relatively feasible as far as able to be done. It would be a matter of time and resources which I'm sure are not unlimited. If I had to pick two, I'd go with Weapon Specific Stanzas and greater Weapon/Armor bonus variance.
I tried to keep it all positive. I'm done being bitter about this game. I would really love to see it grow when it is purchased by the new folks.

For years the humanity has enslaved their enemies. Th homins can do the same. If you can train the fewer kin of your enemy to instrumentalize it, then you do.
In fact, the idea of kitin mounts sound very matis-like to me. You know, the matis always plays with dangerous things in the name of progress.
Really, it appears to me an experiment that, by the lore, the matis probably have been trying for years. But if you're zorai or fyros this will appear a blasphemous thing, for sure :)

My Top Ten list is a short one (well 10 is a small number even if I blabber at length) and some ideas are long standing and somehwat refined and others are just thrown out for the sake of discussion.
1. Fix the things that are broken. Most have already been mentioned comprehensive lists but hi on my list are:
a) Encyclopedia
b) Z-Axis issues......like when I'm in underground cave and a vorax's area attack hits me when he's 60m above my head, and then later when the yelk he attacked gets killed I get gassed this is silly.
c) Lag issues that are not lag issues. For example if Sysinfo says:
-----You begin to feel effects of melee protection aura
-----The horrific cuttler hits you for 937 (1897)
lag or no lag, if server recorded the action first, it should be in effect.
2. OP Cats are a double edged sword. We all can count the number of maxed level players who are here no more. I certainly don't have anough fingers etc. to count on. When nekid, I can only count to 21....ok, no 20 and a half jokes.
How many of you haven't suffered PMD (Post Master Depression) and taken a small or large break from having finished a goal and then lacked the incentive to start a similar one righta way. Perhaps limit cats usage to a) crafting b) crafting and digging or 3) a limited number of levels in each range of 50.
Cats can be real handy to balance a team.....a tank, ele, healer team is less effective at mixed levels of 82 / 73 / 65. If lower skill level players use cats till they all even up at say 90, then they team can go on progressing reasonably well together. Or if cats only worked for say 10 levels in 1-50, 10- levels in 50-100, etc, you could still use them to have team members get their levels more balanced without effectively reducing the effort by half.
And yes, I was surprised to see comments to the contrary but OP ownership and cats is a huge advantage. It's like saying the NY Yankees huge payroll isn't really an advantage. Let's say two guilds contest for an OP and one wins 13-11. All things being equal, who wins the next battle a month later ? Forget the what ifs.....yeah what if the loser recruited more players,....what stops the winning guld from dong the same. No matter what other "what if" ya come up with, their is an equal footing alternative for the other side. Cats vs no cats is simply uneven footing.
3. Don't go freebie. Free games attract too many l33t kids with a distorted portion of them being the kids who get beat up in school everyday and who wanna immerse themselves in a game world where they can do the somewhat socially acceptable online equivalent of beating up the guys on the football team and blasting their triumph over the school PA.
4. Encourage family participation. Do something unique which should generate a lot of favorable press. I know many, many hubby and wife pairs in ryzom, many sons and daughters of players in Ryzom. We have grandfathers, dads and moms and their kids playing in our guild. We have many kids of other players, many of them GL's or HO's kids playing in our guild.
How about a "family pak" pricing or diminished cost for additional accounts. Say $15/mo for 1st account, $10 for 2nd, $5 for each additional account paid on same credit card on the same billing cycle ?
Now before ya say, doesn't that comflict with what I said in 3 above, no it's not contradictory. The difference is parental supervision. We have had issues with kids behavior, a pm to a parent and a parent to child chat about why it may be impolite to keep begging people for cats solves the problem. Trash talk would be non existent as parent is right there to address. Of course we have adults misbehaving too but I don't think family accounts would make the condition any worse.
5. Guild management system...the who's here suppossed to be in next patch but fix the guild chat window so it doesn't resize on every relog. Add "last viisted in this date" column to guild listb (and and fix guild list). Add a log for Guild inventory in and outs.
6. Here's on of the items thrown out for discussion. I'm not in a position to judge how to fix PvP but am concerned about the effect on the community.
But from the feelings of peeps posted here and conversations in game, add some balance to PvP. I served as little league coach, manager, director. We had parents and coaches with "win at all costs" approaches to game. Over the years we had a pretty darn good team, several undefeated yeara and went to the county final one year. But our approach at even the most competive senior level when playing a team that could give us a run for the money was to play our best players to start and then adjust as game went on substituting to make game competitive. We didn't want to win 12-0, we wanted every game to go 4-3 and losing 4-3 was betetr than winning 18-0.
So against a less skilled team, we'd start unskilled players at key positions, there had to be some reward and recognition for kids who won a starting position. We always tried our best to win but "stacked the deck" to first make the game challenging and exciting. We'd move our all star shortstop to outfield and laughed along with him about how he misjudged a fly ball. We'd put a guy in as pitcher who never pitched before. Every player wound up playing every position. While this was common in entry levels, it was uncommon in senior levels.
And when we did beat a team 8-7, the kids on the losing side went home thinking they gave a really good team a run for their money. When we went home losing 8-7, the kids maybe had alittle air let outta their heads, worked a little harder and were all psyched up and excited to do better next time.
I don't PvP. My mom taught me and I teach my boys that it's not nice to take other people's toys away. I won't entertain the argument that life is tough. To me this is a game, it's suppossed to be an escape from real life not a substitute for RL. I'll take my strife, challenges, competition and aggravation for where it counts for something. For me, fun is only fun when it's not at someone else's expense. But I have no interet in imposing my morals / play style on anyone else. This isn't a justification of my choices, just so the reader understand where I am sitting.
But if ya gonna do PvP, is it actually fun to win a battle 24 to zip ? Why not "stack the deck" a bit like we did in little league to make each battle a challenge and exciting such that the outcome is in question till the very end ? Again, as an outsider, it's hard to make suggestions but the following would seem to have some merit.
For example, why not introduce a means where the battle system works to balance the fight to at least some extent. Based upon the participant count, and accounting for their highest level or level in use, adjust the amount of npc's that can be brough to bear.
Again, I'm hardly in a position to judge, but wouldn't it me more fun for both sides to not have 24-0 battles ? Yes, of course not everyone goes that way but why should 35% of them be exciting ?.....why not all ? If people say the do PvP for the challenge, where was the challenge if ya won 24-0 ?
On a side note, I have to give the community a lot of credit here. Despite game mechanics which literally force everyone into a faction or be penalized in some way, the game community has decided that it's OK to a large extent for neutrals to exist and thrive. Neutral guild OP's are not often attacked which is a result I honestly didn't think would continue for very long.
7. Provide an alternate means of obtaining an OP or the bennies that go with them other than battle. What about diplomatic ouposts ? Why not say have a means where if a guild can satisfy a certain number of re-requisites, and accomplish certain amount of missions / tasks for BOTH the kami and karavan, they be able to PvE contest for a diplomatic outpost ? Whereas PvP guilds with O's must invest time and money to maintain them, have these guilds required to continue certain services to keep them. Of course the time involved should not be so burdensome that it leaves the guild little opportunity to do anything else.
8. Provide an outlet for excesses. I'm finishing up HA crafting. In doing so I finished desert dig and PR dig, and even considered doing lake, jungle and forest. I have since decided they are best reserved for my next crafting area, be it weps, jools or whatever. The problem is the dig levels and craft levels would be far too far apart to make starting a new region dig to continue to craft HA efficiently.
Other than an automatic choice for DP removal, can the game give us some reward for all that time spent obtaining mats to craft ? An xp "bank" or something where I could at least get "partial" credit for all that digging after 250. To sit there and dig for 7 hours to get enough mats for a craft session ... well it would be a lot more enjoyable if I felt I was getting something for all that effort.
Could xp after 250 generate cats or better yet "skill specific" cats ? Not at an obscene level of course but it would give non OP owning peeps a source at least. How about "college credits" where if I say dug desert to the equivalent of 250 a 2nd time, I could use these credits to accelerate Forest, Lake or Jungle dig. These credits could not be used until you mastered two regions (one above ground and PR) ....after that i think, it would seem I'd know enough to work a bit faster than a n00b in leveling other regions.
Same with dappers. What can i do with my 200,000,000 dappers. Again, with limitations, say having mastered two skills in a branch, why not let me pay obscene amounts of money for an "education". I can earn about 7 million in a typical day digging / crafting and get about 7 levels at 200+. So buying a level at college for say 10 million means that if I did that every day for a month...earning 210 levels in the process, the cash I earned would move me to 230 levels.....not exactly a great impact but makes dappers of some significance again.
9. I'm convinced every armor and jool crafter in Atys visits the town apothacary weekly for his / her medication. A weapon crafter can become useful to his / her community in 1/6th the time of a jooler or HA crafter....LA/MA crafters get off with only slightly less. I come up short on ideas with this one but Jooler and Armor crafters are becoming fodder for folk tales "yeah I heard of him...he went off into the wilds many years ago to search for mats and though there are tales of him returning to civilization every few years, methinks this is just stuff of legend."
Again, the college / trade school idea previoulsy mentioned might be applied ONLY to similar skills. For example, after mastering a required 2 or 3 skill trees in the same area, say jools (earings/ rings / [third item ?]), dappers for trade school only for the remaining ones.
10. Create an economy. How many auctions are for dapper ? Crafters just have no use for it, sales of grind pieces to npc's has them in the 100's of millions already.....so everyone just wants mats cause they are digging long after they have mastered two regions for no xp and no reward. Dappers could be used for honor points, cats, rent, trade school or whatver .... as long as they weren't cheap it works. I don't ike the idea that if I want a piece crafted I have to turn myself into someone's personal dig slave. Another option would be npc mats. Instead of "dig me 6000 mats" for this crafted item" one could say "give me 50,000 dappers [so I can buy those 6000 mats]".
Again, in some instances I am just addressing things I dream about being "fixed" in soem shape or form. I doubt I have come up with best examples of how to fix them but hopefully it will serve as a start of constructive discussion which recognizing that while each suggestion might be best for each individual's play style or the status they have already obtained, it might be best overall for the community at large an the future of the game.
OK I said top ten ...afflict me....but here's my 11th
11. No jumping.
Actually that's not a fix so I guess top ten still works, but after finally getting into LOTR beta and having 5 - 6 peeps standing in front of me jumping up and down within 3 minutes of arriving in town, I uninstalled it.
And since I already made my excuse for breaking the top ten :) ....
12. Eliminate camping. There's no way to ToS it but it sure would be nice to have a shot at some of the cool things with out using phone trees to get everyone together for a boss hunt and having half the team risking their jobs for playing at work cause there was a server rest or setting alarms for 4 am to dig supernodes cause that's when the season will change.
Every idea I come up with comes up short.....if ya dig a sup area / kill a boss in one season you / ya team can''t dig it for next [insert number here] seasons .....well then couldn't the same 4 peeps go each season not in team and still effectively own the spot / kill. Perhaps knock out the diggers guild or team leaders guild for that period. Again, I still see a lot of shortcomings....each alternate I can think of has a downside and an exploit or two.
Instanced also seems promising. Or perhaps random spawns where bounty's were placed on bosses by npc's who "notified" regsitered hunting teams who would receive scouting messages that the boss was seen and expected to be at certain location and time range. The "corpse" would have to returned to the npc for the reward and "mat refinement". That is the boss only got so powerful because of goo corruption and the npc would de-goo-ify it. Once de-goo-ified, the team participants could come and pick up their share of the loot. Each team member gets one shot per season.
Again, no one likes camping....even when you the one doing it, it's boring just waiting, but I sure having a tough time figuring out what would be a workable solution.

My Top Ten list is a short one (well 10 is a small number even if I blabber at length) and some ideas are long standing and somehwat refined and others are just thrown out for the sake of discussion. Good post...
In fairness I do seem to think your not totally up on how OP battle levels work, that or I am misreading your verbage. Every OP battle is a double-header... each side gets NPC help for their half. The result is determined by who pushed the bar highest against the NPC sided team, time allows a maximum of 24 levels. If during the first half you lose ONE round, your reset to level one without a chance to achieve 24 again.
We have had battles where both sides hit 24 during their round, the OP did not change hands.
Again good post, but I hope you see it IS the competitiveness that has each side striving for 24-0.

A special tag that once activated allows you to kill all the players wearing that tag regardless of faction, guild etc. If you kill someone [...] u will be KOS as soon as the guards see u. A reward is awarded to any player who kills the murderer [...] this tag could allow people to roleplay : serial killers, mass murderers, assassins, mercenaries, terrorists, private detectives...
I love the Idea :)
Oh and I just had this crazy idea ! please find a way for us to prepare armor/jewel/weapon sets equipable in one click ;)
I would also like to be able to equip stuff using macro... <-- my lazy side speaking... not the real me :D

This would save a lot of time and many clicks between finishing digging and going hunting. I think this is something that irritates many of us :).
Also some kind of inventory separators are essential. Whether it is in the form of bags within the inventory or several different cupboards in the guildhall/apartment. That way you can keep your focus armour/jewellery sets separate from the HP ones and separate weapon mats from armour mats etc. Going through every item over and over every time you want something from the guildhall just isn't fun.

No, I understand the **existing** setup....well as much as I can I suppose, mereley as an observer watching from a distance, I was suggesting an alternative. On one hand, it seems fairest that a stronger guild shouldn't have to have the sides "evened out" but OTOH, I haven't seen any guild versus guild, it's all been faction versus faction for the most part. And when there's only two sides, the one side which has a significant number or player level advantage, the result is somewhat predetermined. What I was suggesting, for example, ignoring player level differences for the moment, and aside from the npc's already part of the standard battle, was that if there 40 peeps on one side and 20 on the other, that the short side can hire the difference in npc's. That way they can even the battle out but at a monetray cost.
Our little league teams were very competive. They wanted to win every game, but they never wanted to embarass or dishearten the other team. Cause ya know what happens then. Those people stop playing and ya wind up playing w/ yaself....which isn't much fun. For those who "claim" they are looking for a challenge, I hardly see it being so when ya win 24-0. So I just don't see that "need" being satisfied which leads me to believe many peeps motivation lies elsewhere.
Heck, even 10 year old kids who play a 18-3 game will take the best player and move him to the other team when choosing up sides for the next game.
But again, it's very hard to come up with a system that can be well balanced and challenging but that also doesn't impose a penalty for work put in either recruiting members to your cause or improving skills.

Not having a jump feature is pure laziness.....not some grand design to keep players from bunnyhopping.....Here it is, put jumping in, but make every time you jump drain a bit of stamina......that would add realizm, my jumping ability i so want and keeps kiddies from somehow annoying the few folks that seem to have an issue with jumping.....

Why do you want a jump feature? It serves no purpose. Obstacles have a collision zone so you can't jump over them. It would be unrealistic to jump over animals or homins. Combat isn't "twitch" sensitive. There is no purpose for jumping other than being bunnies.
If you want the cosmetic effect of jump, do, "/alert". Or better yet, "/alert jumps into the air!".
I know this is a "dream" topic, but realistic dreams perhaps? At least in my opinion, next time you want someone to take you seriously, add some facts. Truth hurts. Sorry, but your post rings "bunny".

The game has no z-axis so it would be a major code rewrite. I remember when we'd take hits crossing the bridges in fyros from mobs below and I still get hit by attacks from mobs 60m above my head when underground. Such will eventually be required if rumor holds for access to the root system above atys.
I played LOTR beta for 10 minutes. After 6 peeps stoed in front of me hopping like crack crazed pogo stick fiends, I just uninstalled the game. My son is a big war game afficionado and I am amazed at the realism in thes games. That realism gets blow to hell however when some bozo charges a well placed opponent jumping up and down like he's at the end of a yo yo string.
Jumping over an obstacle is fine.....limit jumping to being triggered by a proximity detector near jumpable obstacles. And make it so that once combat is engaged, jumping is auto-death......OK I give ya one jump, 2nd gives 6k damage.

First off Jared, I am going to have to simply agree to dis-agree with you. I feel that a stamina cost to jumping would be perfectly acceptable, And personaly think it fairly silly that you would quit a game in 10 minutes due to people over using the jump feature, but I respect your opinion and accept it as such.
To the poster above Jared however.....Once again this community is showing us another beaming example of courtesy, tact, and wit....Is it your place to fault me for "dreaming" of a more complete realistic physics engine? And what facts exactly are you asking to be brought forth....considering this entire thread is based off the imagination of the players? Where my post, in your little world, reaked of bunny.....your post, in the real world, reaked of troll....
EDIT: And yes, my dream is to be able to fall and die, jump over a hill that is a foot tall instead of walking a distance to get around this 1 foot tall ridge....or to be able to jump in the water from 2 feet up, instead of having to find a beach.....And if you do not think this is a realistic request then you have not worked with anyone who has created, worked on, or modified a 3d engine.....look here in fact http://www.mtp-target.org/
the NeL engine at work in a fully 3d enviroment.......Wait....did I just produce a fact???

MMORPG code should always allow jumnping, It is frustrating to be blocked by a small 'obstacle'. I understand that there will always be folk who 'exploit' game coding...but removing or not implementing an essential feature because of the possibility of being exploited is wrong....I do not want 'bunny hoppers' directing the decisions and development of any game I play.
My wish is to jump over a small fence in Ryzom :)

Well, I have to agree that within a ceratin limit it would realy be nice not to bump into "invisible" things at times.
A stamina cost would be a nice and realistic Idea, maybe coupled with one of the fight skills for a "training" effect. Barehanded for example... (KungFU anyone :D)
For I´m sure someone who´s doing regular workout, could beat anyone who´s not in a jumping contest ;) :D
So, at the beginning it would for example be 5 jumps in 5 minutes, and later maybe 10 in 5, or whatever... Just an example, no room for flameing here, move on please, nothing to see here, move on... *waves*

It is funny, until I tried other MMOs that had jumping, it never occured to me that Ryzom didn't have it, despite it being present in other games (an eccential part is say, Gothic).
Do I miss it in Ryzom, not really. It would be a nice feature to add, but I also fear the presence of "jumpatrons".
