View Full Version : Sad excuse for a patch

After being killed by a marauding ragus today which is far below my fight level I decided to review the patch notes to see what took the programmers a week to do.
1)Displayed player name next to crafted item:
I can see how this is novel but it doesnt exactly do anythign about gameplay.
nice but pointless
2)Fixed an error with stacks of 0
Ok so the vendor system works a little better now, too bad it should have worked in the first place. Wait this is just an error caused by a previous aptch hahaha....
3)Fixed resistivities with direct damage spell
sorry but I land one out of every 40 spells when im fightin gagainst a mob in a group still...didnt seem to change and i verified this with like 12 other people
4) Added welcome message
wtf, what can i even say about this....
5)Fixed a fame bug when...something +32000...-32000
Does this mean something to anyone? These notes are for us to understand not wonder about. Additionally it doesnt seem to address the getting fame for the wrong people issue
To make things worse starting today I was getting stuck in the map. I've played since day 1 and never goten completely stuck anywhere before. But id be swimming and suddenly find myself in a hill.
My conclusion is that they need to fix the bugs and add content instead of making cosmetic changes.
Also: if you are a fanboi please dont reply to this thread, im thinking abou posting a list of them soon so people know who to ignore. I dont want you to ruin this thread like you did to Lukatis message about the patch notes.

ROLMAO!!!! that is something that really needed saying. i agree 100 % with you summary. Unfortunately fanboyz dont like constructive criticism on this forum regardless of how helpful it may be to the designers :)

Not that I want to get on the much feared fanboi list but this is a sad excuse for a post.
This wasn't a Patch 1 or a Patch 2 style patch. It was a bug fix and tweak patch. If things aren't tweaked enough then say so and provide suggestions as how they should be tweaked to align with what you desire in gameplay.
1 hit out of 40 casts?? I don't think so. It was more than that prior to this patch. Balance is still an issue granted. Sometimes I can't keep up with the tank in the group, or the tank kills the mob so fast that I can't get a spell off. I'm hoping that this has changed.
Why attack the patch? If you want something fixed state it and state how you feel it should be fixed. And then we'll have a lively debate about it. And who knows maybe, just maybe, someone will agree with someone and someone will implement another patch.

Yes, I don't post much... if at all and there's reason for that; I actually enjoy "playing" the game so I must be a fanboi. I'm adding to this thread in hopes that a list of all of us who enjoy game can be made, and then our access to the forums can be removed as per the thread authors suggestion. This will leave behind the few whiners, who, upset that Nevrax is making patches that appease the majority of players; doesn't create patches for their personal enjoyment.
This is pretty much like the longer thread on todays patch. A feature that most people requested as part of the wishlist, got implemented, and three people are so upset about it that they have to go off on a six page rant. And this is the start of another one.
Patches are good; bug fixes are implemented in a timely fashion ( considering the nature of the software developement industry ) and we're getting features added to the game that we ( the majority ) requested. I seriously hope most of the negative drivel posted in these forums is ignored, not only by the devs, but by the userbase as a whole. Enjoy your right to post and complain; I'm likewise enjoying my right to a more positive post.
There's several lines of sarcasm in this post; putting this line here to stem of possible confusion.

If there was anything constructive in that post, I missed it. It was just an opinion and that's ok. But don't expect everyone here to agree with it.

Did none of you read the development chart? They told us they were doing a myriad of other things just for this mini patch, and then they didnt do them.

Just a question: did you try "overcasting"?
By that that I mean increasing the credit of the spell in order to improve the success rate

Look... clearly, the want to be wildly off-topic and ineffective in doing anything other than aggrivating people is overriding the mundane task of... helping to make this a better game.
I decided that I wanted to be a part of the forums here, since this game really entertains the hell out of me. Why is the community inside the game so much better than the one here? Not to say that I haven't contributed some ill-flavored wit 'n charm... but seriously, this is becoming far too much.

That's a brilliant point and I agree wholeheartedly. This forum reflects extremely poorly upon the in-game population, whom I find to be alot of fun, and very easy to get along with.
As far as crying about a minor patch that didn't get me laid last weekend or put cold beer in my fridge, I'll refrain from any over-exaggerated attempts to discredit the devolopment process.

As far as I ever read, the two mini patches (one last week and one this week) were primarily to address the harvesting and combat issues that were caused by Patch 1. I think they've done that pretty well.
I pretty much consider any other fixes or additions that crept into these mini patches a bonus. They probably just had the fix/feature ready so they went ahead and included it in the patches to fix the harvest and combat issues.
I think a lot of people blurred the lines between a major patch and these two mini patches because of the information about the upcoming Patch 2 that was also announced this week.

amitst, better add my name to your famboi list.
It is just a fix, not a major patch. They are trying to fix things.
I agree with Neofuzz and Lukati. If I was just reading the forum and wasn't in game I would wonder if I would want to be in it. Thank goodness the people in game are much nicer.

actually most "constructive criticisms" are not contructive. they are just whining about how this patch sux and they have no clue how to play the game and it's nevrax's fault
i'm all for contructive criticism, i just don't like moaning and *****ing because they are brainless wankers
and i do agree with the others that the forum population sux compared to those in game

I think the complaining on the forums is good for one reason. It keeps all the whiners checking to see if anyone says anything in their thread, and lets the rest of us enjoy the game without having to deal with them. I applaud you amitst, keep whining here so I don't have to see you in game.
