My problem was similiar. Try locking to either D3D or OpenGL in the game config.

please, how do i fix this?Avoid using "Auto" in the setup if you can avoid it, determine which setting is more asthetically pleasing and fast for you and use that one. Also, once you are in the game, try deselecting then reselecting FS mode... I know that once I did that awhile back it stayed in that mode. The game will still load in a window, but after you select your character and hit "Play" it goes FS and stays there...
Hopefully that helps... It did for me...

hit 'u', that opens the in-game configuration options. You can tweak things like whether or not your in game windows fade, character fading on mouse over, Chat font size, chat color, vegetation density, enable/disable shadows, render distance for player characters, render distance for micro vegetation, render distance for monsters, and the list goes on....

I see people have problems similar to mine, but since none seem exactly like it, I'll go ahead and describe it in detail:
I run in 1600x1200. When the game starts it switches the screen to that resolution, but draws the game screen at 1280x1024 so that you can still see the task bar and part of my desktop (but it is not accessable - you can't click on anything). If I switch it to windowed mode from there, it expands the Rysom window, but puts it into windowed mode (task bar still visible and now works). If I switch it to another resolution, it works properly. Currnently I'm switching resolutions and then switching it back to get the screen to behave, but unfortunately, the small initial size of the screen causes all my game windows to get moved ontop of each other. Very annoying.
Anywy, I"ll try messing with some of the settings mentioned here to see if that fixes the problem.

That's the problem I was having. In the Ryzom config program, don't use auto. Select either OpenGL or Direct3D manually, as was suggested earlier. That seems to have made the difference.

I was having the same problem. The game was working fine with the default settings. Then I tweeked the graphics settings to give me a wider FoV. Afterward, I was also seeing the tool bar when I loaded the game. I went back into the graphics settings, changed the resolution, then changed it back to what I wanted. Now I don't see the tool bar
Of course, now I can't move my chat window, but that's tolerable...to some extent.

I have the same problem as Jack and I do have my config set to OpenGL (can't play in D3D computer freezes) but my window still shrinks when I go into the game an I have tried clicking the FS mode on and off and still doesn't fix it.
Well I don't know what they did but just for the heck of it I tried running it in D3D again and low and behold I can play and no more screen shrinkage or resetting boxes. Yay! So anyway whatever they did I am glad they did it.

actually what i do is a bit annoying but it works too
right click on the taskbar
choose properties
uncheck the "keep taskbar on top of applications"
click ok
start the game maximized, the middle of the three buttons in the top right hand corner.
change it when you leave the game by reversing the process

just a side note, OpenGL still appears limited in the resolutions it supports, When I try to run it at 1280x1024 it will come up in windowed mode regardless.

In windowed mode? Have you turned this off and changed it to full screen in your ryzom config before starting the game?

Yes I have set for full screen, and yes I have tried your method thexdane. My card just seems to like Direct3d better than OpenGL. I haven't been up to OpenGL's developer forums to see what they have to say yet so I will continue seeking a way to play OpenGL in full screen mode ,
Just noted that cat 4.11 is posted, checked my system and I am 4.09 so first step is to upgrade <oops> Then I'll go talk with the OpenGL gang.

yes but do you have it set in full screen outside the game (in ryzom config) as well as in? Also, are your size settings the same in config as in game? As far as OpenGL I have as of yet not been able to find a way to make OpenGL play in full screen without having to reset the size and the boxes. One thing I haven't tried with Ryzom (I did have to do this with EQ because my computer didn't like having two games with settings and it worked to keep EQ the right size) is to actually reset the screen size with the buttons on your monitor once in game.

I have piddled with the Ini, I can look back to that again, but I seem to have a driver update to deal with first....
Actually at lunch I went home, my settings are in the client.cfg file. I run all games at native resolution to my LCD monitor 1280x1024.

Similar problem, and none of the fixes mentioned help. I've just created a Trial account, and can't get into full screen, and can't see the top part of the game window, and the mouse cursor keeps stalling. Doesn't matter if I choose DX or OGL. Maybe I could change it ingame, but I can't get in to try it with the screen cut off like it is.
More importantly, and I apologize that it's off topic in this thread, is there any actual tech support for this game other than the forum? Email??? Phone??? All I see on the Support page is a chat client that doesn't load (no doubt another example of SP2 gimping my system for my own good). Or, do the devs ever respond to problems posted in the forums?
