Hello everyone,
I have been playing only the beta 2, so i may not have a good insight of the game, but i have bee nclearly disappointed to see that they badly nerfed the aura system. Now they are active for 2mins and inactive for 20 min !!!! they used to be active until u die.
Why such a change ? why no information in patch logs ? or did i missed it ?
What do u think of it?

hi, the aura were not active until you died, it just showed the circle around you until you die. ( Did not check the time it is there now )

They are actually on a 30 min timer :(
I still think the Life Aura i got was a waste of my skill points. faster HP regen for a few mins, then having to wait 30 mins to use it again. Bleh

I have to agree, Aura's are a waste of skill points.
I have only been playing the game 4 days (never played in Beta) but I am an Online veteran (EQ - DAOC - AO - FFXI - COH) and I have never seen such a silly regen system. If it boosted your Health / Sap and everyone else in the party to full in 10 seconds then its not bad but it does so little it really isnt worth the effort. 30 min reset timer.. lol :D

Like most other "useless skill-points wasting skills" Aura get interesting at higher degree.
Let me explain:
-aura 1 gives a small boost to regen, + 5 iirc
-aura 2 gives twice as much, that makes it +10
-aura 3 gives twice as 2, that means +20
-aura 4 gives twice as 3, that's +40
-guess your regen rate with aura 5 ...
Aura, like all other powers, are limited in time, they were never active till you die and like said above, only the light circle was here (with no effect) 1st answer coming to my mind for this strange effect is: the light effect was bugged.
So i say: Auras are defenetely worth it, especially in team and at a medium to high level (getting twice regen speed while standing and fighting a creature, that's really usefull) but you don't need to get them ASAP.

Yes the aura's do more regen at higher levels.. well they have to because you have miles more HP / SAP, so the regen over time will stay about the same.
For example you might get 30% of you hp back quicker with the Aura running for a level 30 Melee, if it didnt go up as it does then a level 100 Melee would only get 1% of thier HP back over the same time.
As you can see I was a Maths Graduate from Cambridge :) but you get the picture.
I still think its a waste of skill points unless they make it last longer or make it regen a whole lot more from the start.

Auras are darn usefull for fighters, offensive mages and prospectors - dont forget that Using any one self-heal sets a timer on ALL self heals!
So when facing a tough mob I cast a STA aura to use my most expensive attacks without actually loosing stamina and still be a ble to cast a self heal if things get rough. Works the same for SAP-expensive spellcasting and harvesting dangerous spots.

OK so to some people they seem to be useful but I would guess to most they seem like a waste.
Nice to have a difference of opinion.
I am an Off Magi and I have tried Sap Aura while grouped, didnt help that much and I prefer to use Heal Sap when I get low. But I can see the advantages when Solo'ing.
I would still like to see some improvements made to that Skill.

Since harvesting is not THE group action I would recommend at least the focus aura to dedicated prospectors ;)

Actually I think auras are the equivalent of the buff in other MMORPGs. They are the most interesting in group.

This thread has intrigued me a lot. I have never paid much attention to Auras, but this thread got me thinking.
By itself, a 1st level Aura that lasts 2 mins. and is off for 30 doesn't sound like a good deal. However, think about what happens if there is a group of 5 people, all of them with the Aura. At only 10 SPs, it's not hard to get. You can take turns casting it, and that's already 10 mins. out of 30., a much better ratio already.
Add to this what happens if bonuses from Auras actually stack? Auras are DEFINITELY designed for team play, if you solo use Self Heals. But in teams, I can see that it can potentially make a large difference.
