I preordered the game, including the preorder special offer of the fabled "armlet". According to the preorder site, the e-mail with the code to claim the armlet "will be sent within 5 weeks of release". I set up and paid for my account, so i could get access to the game. However i do not have the code yet for the armlet. On examining the payment site that has my account details, i now find that there is nowhere to put the armlet code once it arrives. Have i lost the chance to get this armlet now, or did you really expect people to wait "up to 5 weeks" before paying for and activating the account so that they could get this ?

Hi there!
You still have the option to enter your pre-order code.
Go to "Edit your account" -> Scroll down to "Account events" -> Click "Enter your preorder code".

How is one supposed to get the armlet, btw? I used the preorder code (amazon.de order), but no armlet in sight anywhere.

In the german forum is a thread where Farax stated, that the shields are a bit unstable atm.
One must not use or trade them. If one does it though, sending a ticket to a GM is the right move.
But Nevrax works on the solution right now!!

Sheilds ? Trade them ? Are you talking about the Armlets ? I thought they were untradeable ? Do they have any special properties other than just being decorative ?
Confused

The term shield means the Armlet, yes.
And the German-forums admin Farox said "donīt trade them and donīt try to use them".
So i would say they are tradable, but he can be wrong though.
It would be of no good if the Armlets have special properties, because the people who pre-ordered would have an advantage against the people who buy their game retail.

That's generally a big no-no. What you are supposed to get is cosmetic but doesn't give you an advantage over other players, as the company doesn't want to annoy all the people who bought the game at release for various perfectly good reasons. So you get the SWG googles, the CoH specific look for your sprint power, Ryzom's armlet, ...
EQ2 is a bit of a question mark as they announced JBoots (Journeyman Boots, make you run faster) for preorders. (or is it for the special edition? I forget). But while those items are popular in the first game, one assumes they won't be unbalancing in the second or peopoe wouldn't get them for free at level 1 for preordering.

By the way, when the code does come and we enter it, which of our avatars will receive the armlet? Only the first one or all of them?

I have just created a second avatar and that had the armlet too, so it looks like all do.

I bought the game from EB and when it arrived no code. I emailed them a few days later and they responded with a code. I entered the code thru the account links but because I had an existing character the armlet did not appear until I created a NEW character. The armlet is decorative only, dont stress over it.

The armlet works like a shield and you equip it in the same way as a shield, clicking on your left hand and selecting it from the list. Cant remember for sure but I think you may have to have a weapon in your right hand first (but don't quote me!).
Trouble with it is, as soon as you equip it, you get a message telling you it is broken and you should replace it. Plus it's only q10 so it's not much use as a shield after a while. It also means that anyone who prefers to fight 2 handed or with 2 weapons can't wear it because it works like a shield and your hand is then 'occupied' by the armlet.
So it's not even truly just decorative, would have been better as a TOTALLY cosmetic item that could be worn on the arm but didn't do anything or occupy your left hand.
I agree with flynnkd that you shouldn't stress over it because you'll probably only end up wearing it for a short while on noobie island. Or in town when you want to show off. LOL

Who cares about the armlet ? ,sounds totaly useless anyway...
The point is however if im promised something when i buy a product i expect to receive it (regardless of its usefullness to me), the feeling of being ripped off / lied to by a company is what needs to be avoided by Nevrax
