Major Patch - 14th December

Looks like the patch for the first part of the major content is on the 14th December.

A brief description is found on the news section of the main ryzom site.

Anyone on the ATS care to give a tad more info on these changes.....?

Re: Major Patch - 14th December

this is what it said

There will be a major patch on December 14th. This patch provides a number of improvements to the game and introduces the first of the three sets of Chapter 2 features.
The patch highlights include :
- Three major new 'bosses' who, when defeated, yield unique new equipment to their opponents
- New hairstyles and tattoos available from the NPCs about town
- Theme music for the different towns
- New 'tougher' pack animals available from the merchants capable of withstanding the attacks of bigger adversary
- A set of important landscape collision improvements for the Fyros territory
- A revamp of the parry systems and of shields in the game
- A first set of improvements to range combat
- A revamped graphics for some of the common scenery in towns and villages
- In-game mails and forums - having been absent for some weeks, these are now back
- A set of features for events that include event chat channels, faction-based PvP, and more.

ooo sounds like plenty of nice stuff, but it'd be a first for any mmo (to my knowlegde) to put in this much of what players have requested :P ya ok im in a skeptical mood.. dang its cold here...

Ooooo, event chat channels sound very useful indeedy :D

Improvements to ranged weapons also sound very interesting...

However, you're right - this info is no longer displayed on the homepage!

3 patches - loads of stuff in each one !

Shame that all the people who left because, there was no content are going to miss out on all the lovely patch goodness!

Unique Items - to keep the Diablo fans happy

Hair and tatoos - for the 'fashion' crowd

Bigger boss mobs - to challange the fighters

Music - for the people who wanted 'atmosphere'

Hard mekkies - for the roving merchants

chat channels - for the noisey ones.

The first part of this 3 patch Extravaganza, forfills most of the requests by players.

what can I say other than WOOT!

Looks at those who wanted more content, and says ... here ya go this what you want?

Re: Major Patch - 14th December

I think we should start a re-recruitment drive, if anyone is interested? :)

Once we have some of this patch content, we could all get in touch with old friends who left (if possible), and let them know what they're missing. I for one would desperately like to see some old friends back again, and this could well be the reason for their return!

Congrats to Nevrax, here's hoping Chapter 2 lives up to our (massive) expectations! :D

Is there anything about the possibility to name my Packers? Pack1, Pack2, Pack3....
I want to be able to edit their names.

drcole22 December 9th, 2004 04:24 PM

Re: Major Patch - 14th December

i want to be able to name my weapons. That'd be cool!

anyway, all news is up and more info about what else is coming (3 patches!! They are spoiling us now!)

got to feel sorry for all the players on 56kps dial up. Going to mean a fair amount of patch time.....

can't wait to see a bit more content and the 'rite' missions and thier rewards have peaked my interest. I hope to see new abilites to add to crafted items avaliable to crafters!

Nice to see, unfortunately and I sorry but im gonna downer this, too little too late for a lot of us. As Skye has said and I have agreed it is so dead in most areas that you could debate wether Massive could be removed from MMORG.

However if they carry on at this rate then in 3 months I think some substantial content will be there and Ryzom will be otw to the game it should have been at release, I just hope that it will attract the player base as unfortunately the european servers of WoW will have gone live.

For you dedicated Ryzom players Im very happy for you and hope you can help Nevrax into a game that will attract the player base it needs to survive.

Hmm, theres no mention of Guild missions to get outposts is there? Just the rite missions for the encyclopedia? They seem to be oddly silent about the outpost missions :p

to little to late i mean we all new the time scales of things and the patient ones have stayed and lasted the time and hopefully will reap the benefits I think actually the majority of folk who have left where the ones who always intended to leave and not give the game a chance hence why the first few weeks you had the infamous posts of Ill stay and stick with Ryzom or im going to EQ2 or WOW, some people have left cause they could no longer do 20-30 levels in a night or just couldnt figure out how to avoid scowling gingos with out dying. Other people left cause of lack of content or lack of imagination or lack of being a social entity.

however

Im also seeing lots of new faces and also have gained a number of new members in last two weeks all 14 day free trialers of which 90% have subscribed thats a pretty good ratio in my opinion but maybe ive just made it intresting and a good gaming experience for them :) and they fell in luv with me and not the game and would miss me terribly if they never subscribed :)

and i know borg i really did feel you didnt want to put a downer on this little thread but my hat of to you.

If anything Im peeved at the fact that I was really enjoying the game and they kept changing it in my opinion to combat those who could contribute 8 hours a day to the game. Those of us who are lucky to get 2 hours a night have suffered to the point where I personally now find the game difficult, not fun difficult but unfun difficult. So the game isnt for me but Im not everyone and I wish you all the best of luck. When borg9 tells me theyve stopped screwing around with the game mechanics and have introduced enough content to keep us going for more than a few days I will be back, no doubt I wont be the only one.

Do the developers ever sleep? I want some of what they're on! There must be an army of them, or a small *very* dedicated team.

These major patches are what we have all been holding out for and are the best Christmas present the team could have given us. The boys and girls of Atys must have been very good this year.....

Well I'm also a 2/3 hours a night player and I have to say I don't agree with you on this. I don't feel my experience has sufferred unduly or become too difficult. I have still been happily and steadily lvling my character since the changes. I have done this both solo and in teams.

Granted I have had to adjust my tactics to fit the changes but that's part of life. Things do change, life is like that, you simply have to adapt.

as i have said to you many times mr 250 1 handed skill i have a right to post my views if you dont like it dont read it :) the stuff in those patch's may be good if they actually work! its the 3 patches part that worrys me yesterday took 8 hours so i guess if we work on that basis we are loooking at another 24 hours downtime to come :) i have given up on expecting good things to come of patches as they never do cant blame me for that can you? all patches are doomed look at nicorette patches :P

kibsword December 10th, 2004 01:21 PM

Re: Major Patch - 14th December

Patching usually takes 2 hours max. That 8 hour downtime (and it was less than that in the end) was to do maintainence work on technical stuff which needed doing.

The 3 patches should not take long and are well worth it so please stop your moaning.

Yes you have every right to post your views, it's just that they're infantile, boring and very repetitious. You have the 'Mr.Complainer' character hel - if someone gave you a million dappers you'd complain it wasn't in a gold box, if someone gave you uber-protecty-no-worries armour you'd complain that you don't have a spare set too.

No we can't, but using simple logic: the only way this game will improve is through patches - since you aren't happy with the game now, and you don't see any good coming from patches, why are you still here? Any chance I could have a sensible answer to that, without any pathetic whine-turnarounds?

borguk December 10th, 2004 02:22 PM

Re: Major Patch - 14th December

Where are outposts, lets face it for this was the pivot for me, matis players need them as its so far from the main towns to the q200-250 forage areas.

Not only that it was the one thing that made we go wow when I first saw those burnt out towns and thought one day I will be in a guild that will own one of those. It was one of the main reasons I joined RoA at that time (Icey the reason I left it).

Where are the mounts ?

Now if these are coming in the 2 patches after the one on the 14th (???) then why dont they tell us. Once again back to poor communication, Im not the only one playing to the end of his sub here.

There will be subsequent patches on December 21st and January 6th. These patches will introduce free for all PvP in certain areas of the world, animal riding, the Encyclopedia, the first set of 'Rite' missions and their associated unique rewards.

:) same here on the outposts though really want to see those running.

I'll ignore the second part of your post (what I didn't quote above) but the answer to what I did post is that no I don't have a short memory, I just don't base my whole life around a forum of a game I profess to hate (but still for some reason visit all the time) so I don't remember every post I make, nor do I remember every little whiner I have to correct. Although if what you say is true, then I have to say your spelling/punctuation/grammar has improved to a point where I no longer feel the need to correct it :)

Bah come on teh Spriteh, you're either being diplomatic or you're reading the wrong post :D

Sorry helbreat, but posts without punctuation are just plain annoying. The capital i thing I can handle, even the lack of valuable post content. But *please*, put some full stops and commas in eh? :)

Also use some pyschology/reverse psychology on your posts. If you can't be bothered to use punctuation (ok, just full stops will do) then you obviousy don't care about the content or accuracy of your posts - tap tap tap *submit*. I really think you'd receive less flaming if you spend a bit of time thinking :) (Oh and did I mention punctuation... :D)

One word, "paranoia" You yourself said that you only come in here when the servers are down (I'll ignore the fact that they're not down now) so doesn't it stand to reason that someone like me who actually *likes* the game would post in most, if not all, topics on here that interested me?

And since people are beginning to complain about this, I'm going to "unsubscribe" from this thread. If you wanna post after this then go ahead but I won't be replying.

My sincere apologies to anyone who expected anything useful to come out of this thread; I think I may have had a part in spoiling the chance of that happening.

Hahahahahahahahahahahah

oh man *wipes away tears of laughter* you cannot be serious ? i would expect (insert any event that has zero to no chances of occurring, ever)
before flaming will cease on forums. It is the natural order of things, do not question or disturb it :)
Sure flaming is not constructive, and can get ugly sometimes, but it is really entertaining to read. I am actually glad that some people lack the ability to express themselves through civil and well put posts, so have to resort to attacking others, thanx guys, you make the forums interesting :D.

i have to agree with pcheez on this one the only intresting stuff on this forum usually is flaming if you have something so important in game for 5 hours then why come out here to read flames? lol

i alrdy posted mine and sprite's first post mine was on topic all be it a downer on the topic but each is entitled to there opinion, sprites first post was a flame......

pcheez your compleatly diff when you see me in game..;P sprite goes so far as to ask me for ressing when the goari kill him outside north gate..... sure will poison be enough to res you with? ;)

sprite i dont know where you get the idea i hate the game as if that was the case i wouldnt play it so much would i? you dont get 100+ - 150 in all teamable skills without liking a game m8 :) i hate all the downtime that comes with patches yes... but dont we all? hating downtime and hating a game are miles apart if you ask me

all im saying is that you all, including me, has black goo inside us, that goo feeds on sorrow and bad feelings, it grows bigger by insults and violence.
it makes you feel good about your condition until it infected every single part of you and theres no more cure than missery and death.

help save yourself the world and even atys by giving some love!

i agree does seem a bit wierd that it uses your ingame login i mean people are half way to hacking your acc if they felt that way inclined since they know your user id alrdy. priston tale used to do the same thing on there forums but they had the decency to block out the last 3 digits after people queried it.
