Guilds deleted from server. Again.

My guild (mine, as in I'm a member, not guild leader) was deleted from the server. This is the second time I've gone through a server guild deletion - the last time, they fiddled around for weeks before offering any reasonable relief.

I used to be a software engineer. I can not comprehend how a fundamental database integrity issue like this could ever make it into production code. Guilds disappear. Characters disappear. That this could happen at all is mind-boggling to me. That this could keep happening repeatedly... without them fixing the freakin' code the first time... strikes me as a programming competence issue.

So, developers... prove me wrong. Show me your skills by restoring these problems quickly, completely, and transparently... and in the process, add robust database redundancy in order to guarantee rock-solid integrity in the future.

My character disappeared as well. I know I'm not the only one because I when I mentioned it in Klients, somebody told me to get in line since they'd been waiting 3 hours for their character.

I am a software engineer and I have to agree. Regularly while I play I see the sysinfo msg "Oudknoei has been saved". So, if I'm "saved", how could I be missing when I get back? Was it in the middle of a new save when the server crashed? If so, make multiple copies when you do the save. The first time this happened, coding to prevent it in the future should have been done.

I'm sympathetic to bugs and how they appear (I've written my fair share) and I'm sympathetic to the fact that work must be prioritized so my personal pet-peeve bug might be last to get worked on. But this is a critical database issue. All other bugs pale in comparison to not being able to play or having your guild deleted.

Even if you can't prevent it, make sure you've got enough redundancy so that it can be restored quickly and automatically before we see it.

yep....we lost our guild and i lost my character as well. i have been waiting some 7 1/2 hours so far and they do not know when they will have it up again nor if it will roll back to an earlier back up. last time this happened to one of our guildies he lost nearly 2 weeks worth of play time. Hope this is not the case with their latest effort. this is bs to say the least.lets hope they find a way to stop these things from happening ever again.

The last time guilds were lost, they were back up in 3 days with the contents of the GH intact.

All 3 servers went down last night, so its not surprising there are a few "issues"

I'm sorry about your loss, guys and I really hope the things will be corrected soon. Is more than annoying to experience a such loss.

What I'm wondering is why the fanbois did not flamed you yet with things like " your character is nevrax property, stop whinning like an a***hole" or things like that. Maybe they feel that is a bit too much?

Thanks for the offer; that's very kind. If I actually lose this character permanently after 3 months of work, I don't know if I'll have the emotional energy to start again. But, I'm going to try to remain optimistic that won't be necessary. Repeating everything I've done for 3 months doesn't sound like fun and I'm not in this for some eventual goal; I'm here to have fun.

I believe I was the first person to have this happen to them. It was about 2 months ago now. I worked through extensive testing with the NA CSR team. One we finally worked out were Noinossalg was hiding, it took the devs round 1.5-2 days to fix it. The whole process for me to get my character back took 6 days. I lost a full days worth of progress (4 forage levels (167-163 or somthing like that), 2000 mats in my packer, and 15 some odd other lowly levels) This was nothing in comparison to losing my ALL of my levels as the other option.

Since then I know of this happening to others, and the process as I know it is 1-2 days. As this happened on multiple servers, and there are multiple people in this situation, you may expect more. Be patient, it is well worth it. I did get hot in the process, due to a lack of communication, in the end all was well.

What I can tell you is DO NOT under any circumstances create another character in the slot that was held by your 'missing' character at the character selection screen.

If you need your fix, create a new toon, and have some fun on a noob island helping the new people there, or come across to the mainland and have some fun with the new people here. Either way, you can relax your toon should be back soon.

I can not respond on the guild side, sorry for those people, I can imagine the hardship.

All tickets we've received so far have been passed on to Nevrax, and Nevrax is dealing with these tickets right now. I cannot give you an ETA on when all of thse issues will be resolved, but they have priority right now.

My char was missing initially when i logged on this morning. I was able to relog on my char maybe 1.5 hrs after submitting an in-game ticket.
