Greetings Homins.
I guess most of us have "a thing or two" that, if changed or implemented, would make our lives on Atys somewhat easier. These are some small thing I would like to see (some inspired by other mmorpgs I've played). Most have, however, probably been suggested before: * Separate tab for tp-tickets in the inventory, e.g. bag, tp-tickets, equipment, packers etc. Able to sort tickets both alphabetically and by color (i.e. matis, tryker, fyros and zorai). * See which guild mates are online in the guild info window (and, perhaps, when they last were as a tool-tip). * Create your own chat-channels (would be nice for factions, alliances etc.) * Will we ever be able to jump; or gravity is just too strong? (Not a major since I've got the bomb-stanza and simply blow up the yubos surrounding me.) * Be able to resize the mini-map (the dots are VERY small on 250m range in 1600*1200 res) * Further zoom-out distance from the character * Form raid-groups, i.e. combining several groups with a common chat-channel and a raid-group window. * A nice overview window for all the stanzas I currently have; nothing fancy, just be able to see them all in one place (the action window, with all its branches, tend to get complicated for overview purpose) I'm sure there is more, much more, but these are the things I've thought of lately. Edit. Think I have read some where that they are in fact working on a new/modified interface. Although a rather long-term delivery, can't be wrong to give them some early ideas for implementation ![]() Last edited by art3an : September 28th, 2005 at 03:52 PM. |

Have a read through the Linux HOWTO on the support forum. I've been told this may void some of your support, but I ain't sure. ***Edited: Correct - It is indeed not permitted to modify the client's configuration files, especially in order to gain an unfair advantage over other players. The relevant FAQ you were referring to will be updated accordingly.*** Last edited by lawrence : September 28th, 2005 at 03:27 PM. |

***Edited: As you've pointed out yourself further below, this is a code of conduct violation. Please report such issues to Nevrax and our CSR teams directly, not through these message boards.***
I dont think youre actualy allowed to do this in CoC. Its about modifying game files(which isnt allowed) and its about giving you an advantage a regular user doesnt have (cheat/exploit?) Last edited by lawrence : September 28th, 2005 at 02:54 PM. |

I'm not disagreeing that it isn't modifying game files (and I personally don't use this) but this file gets modified all the time when you change you mouse, or screen res or targetting options. Devil's Advocate, y'know. |

Yeh but there is a difference between the game doing it and a player doing it manualy ![]() Oh well i dont care, the thread for running ryzom in Linux is great and obvious you have to mod files for it and it got official support being made into a sticky. So all respect to Grandma for making the thread and respect to Joolt/Nevrax for allowing it and making it sticky. But i think that has to do a lot with the intention of just running it in another OS, i have read mutiple times how youre not allow to manualy edit any file.(and i think that rule is especially targetted towards gaining advantage by manualy editing) -and the UI doent allow for such far veiwing distances as you can config manually EDIT: lol suddenly made me realise that this could be massively used once pvp battles are getting importance, i mean in the way that there always be groups that prefer such methods i wonder if it can be detected and blocked upon login or anything. Or other methods to prevent that.I'd sure hope so. |

Re: Wish list; the small things
Problems with modifying your zoom distance:
- It will void your warranty and support thingy. - It can be exploited by looking around corners and getting an overview of the battlefield that others have not. - Things will get small and hard to see, like bars on a source. - (main reason I think) A lotta things to diplay and turning your camera around fast will make the gameclient unstable. Good reasons: - Just that extra overview we Tryker all desire. Very useful for digging, you will know where all your sources are. - So much nicer screenies. I think one extra step, say to 10m instead of 5, would make a whole lot of difference already. Other things I can comment about: - Resizing the radar you mean? The map can be resized already, to make a minimap... - Your talk about channels makes me think you are a WoW player, no? - All things you mention are no small things, they go deep into the code, deeper then you might think. Maybe the guildwindow can be modified easy, but the rest has a huge impact on serverside code alone, if not clientcode. Actually, when I read your post again, it seems that all you are looking for are things WoW has and SoR doesnt. Look at it like this: Make a post on the Bliz forums and ask for better GFX, more depth in the world's interaction (as is now with harvesting, weather and mob's hunting each other) and more mature players. I wonder what the reaction will be... Your points are valid, just that SoR devs spend so much time making this world look good and give this living planet thing a chance, that the channels, inventory, actions and group implementation lacked a bit. Good thing about this (the bad are well known) is that th game attracts mature, independant people who apreciate what is here. My main suggestion: - Remove starterisle and port all missions to the mainlands. Do that now. No testing. Better have new players that can tell the mainland that the missions are borked, then have new players that have anybody to tell things to... |

Re: Wish list; the small things
the one thing I'd like to see is a minimap like guildwars, the game was crap butt he minimap was sooo useful as you could use your map to draw little pictures on where the rest of your team could see and also click on the little dots (representing mobs) to point them out
would be so useful for trips etc so you could point out a route quickly when travelling instead of trying to type quick enough or just running and hope the person behind you has noticed other than that I'm a happy man. maybe a kincher mount too ![]() |

*Hats. LA and MA head-gear.
*Matching the "Slow" melee weapon stanza in usefulness to "Bleed" at least, if not as good as "Ignore Armor". *Lower the range on spells and ranged weapons used by NPCs and mobs to match those of players. |

![]() Nah, seriously, the things I suggested may be found in several mmorpgs. Nothing strange with them, and would certainly not hurt SoR either. |
