Anyone know of a good guide for magic users? Techniques, etc. I would sift through all this wonderful information, but I just don't want to. (I'm playing ryzom and posting while I wait for my sap to regen).

Re: Class guide for casters?
Don't think I know of any caster guides. I assume you're dealing damage?
One popular tip these days seems to be to use a full range action to pull. When fighting non-static mobs(ie: not plants) using an long range action may give you time to cast an extra couple of spells before the mob reaches you and starts biting. Once it's close enough you can switch back to the normal action with range credit.

i'm having issues with A LOT of resists. it's like they resist those two spells i got off by the time they get to me, and then if i'm lucky enough to get the next two or three spells off, i spend the next 10 minutes waiting for my health to regen.
![]() another problem i'm having is when i upgrade my spells, my amp is too low. so i craft to upgrade my amp but i can't get mats that are good enough for a better amp without killing mobs, and i can't kill mobs without a better amp...and so on. |

Re: Class guide for casters?
You would be better off digging for mats to craft instead of using mob loot, its faster and you have more control over the quality.
I would imagine the resists are due to you being too low compared to the mob you are trying to kill. |

Re: Class guide for casters?
Any good player made guides are probably going to be 4 years old and largely outdated by now. Generally better to just ask the old players.
You generally get a lot of resists with the starter elemental spells. Hunting lower level creatures helps with that, but you'll still get many unlucky streaks of resists. The only way to really deal with it is to make sure you stand next to a place of safety, usually either water or guards. Then when a creature resists all your spells, just run into the safety and try again. Works even better to just team with a meleer though. ![]() And yeah, if you want to craft your own amps, it's pretty much required you forage for the mats. You can get much better mats foraging than you can get off mobs. |

Re: Class guide for casters?
Assuming you are on the mainland, there are many homins who would be happy to make you a good set of amps, just ask (I am one of them btw). Also, as far as resists go, some creatures are naturally resistant to some spells, try switching up a bit til you find one that hits more often. At lower levels, I found using root to be fairly effective at keeping mobs at bay for a spell or two to hit.
...Oh, and not sure if you are sitting while you regen sap/hp, but that speeds it up quite a bit. |
