Factions?

I was told last night..... "Ewwww your a kami"

This was in a joke fashion, but it was a conversation that made me curious enough to post this.

I was able to fathom that basically there is an equivalent of Horde and Alliance here. (not being facetious here just usng a pretty common MMO reference point).

I was told something like Maduk is the little magic dude and jenna is the goddess or something like that.

I read the why I became a kami/karavan posts and tbh I am none the wiser, I read the "commandments" and I cant see myself choosing a side based on something like that.

I was Horde in WoW, because they looked much cooler, specifically Undead, because they can eat corpses for HP, which is pointless but fun .... (BRRAAIINNNNSSSS! ) and they had some really useful racial traits.

Is there an easier way to see both sides of the equation here, other than the polemics in the "why I went X" threads please?

Jena is the face on the login screen. Ma-duk is ... well, nobody has seen him/her/it ;-)

but... in game mechanics, there is only teleports as 'faction content'. nothing else. well, there is tribes, but they dont have purpose atm either.

that leaves only kami/karavan 'community' or RolePlay.

to know the ppl, i think it's best to attend on OP battles as thats where the 'biggest' faction conflict is... even tho one side is not 'pure', i.e. kami side also has neutral/karavan (kamivan if you ever hear that word) factioned ppl in it. karavan side probably has neutrals in it, but not sure about kami aligned ppl... they all probably converted to karavan because _some_ ppl in kami side _will_ make ppl they consider 'traitors' life miserable.

Just a grain of salt to be taken with this, I think both sides could be accused of this kind of attitude and that statement serves no real purpose in the original query.

Saleema, from your post I imagine you were talking with a karavan person, the point they were making is that they discerened that you were from the opposite faction to them.

The only time that there is actual fighting between these factions is at Outpost wars, which are pvp events staged over two battle periods. There is also consentual pvp, where some people from each faction lable themselves available for pvp against their opposing faction.

By and large the community co-exists quite peacefully, thank you very much

The link given by Jayce is a nice simple breakdown of the two factions, without clouding it in what homins have done in the name of each religion, sort of like RL when you think about it.

There is in essence, no good or bad side, but guilds tend to be built around a particular faction although we are a kami guild (DCP), we have two Karavan Champions as members, so its not all cut and dried

If you cannot decide on a theological reason, Find a guild you like and think you will stay with long term and choose that guilds faction.

You could go Neutral, but you get a few less Teleports. I would be inclined to pick a faction though, then you can take part in all the game has to offer, with PvP in OP's and other areas
