Greetings fellow homin,
It has come to the attention of the Fairhaven Guard Chief that during last seasons invasion of Kitin in the Bounty Beaches we lost many a fine messenger to those damned beasts.
With the Kitin presence ever growing, now is the time to have accurate and timely reports from our outer boundaries. The recent knowledge of how to tame and ride Mektoub would allow our messenger to cover longer distances in a much shorter time. This ability has created a new post as my personal messenger.
In order to find the right homin for the job, we will be holding a Race next week. The first to cross the finish in Windy Head will have first crack at the job.
Good Luck to all participants!

Corporal Bareiliam Derren has given the responsibility of judging and monitoring this event to the guild Synergy. He feels that their neutrality to the Kami and Karavan would prevent any problems with the results of the race.

Here are the details:

The race will commence at 8:00pm EST on February the 11th. This should give enough time to finish the race before the contest begins.
The race is composed of checkpoints. You must reach each checkpoint in order as given before passing onto the next one. Failure to follow checkpoints in order will get you disqualified.
There is no set road you must take to get to each checkpoint. If you know a shortcut, take it, but you cannot go out of the order that the checkpoints are in.
Riders can and will at times have numbers of cloppers and goari chasing them. Be warned that you can die and so can your mount. We will not be held responsible.
You must be in a group with one Synergy guild member in order to be actively participating in the race. By joining one of these groups, Synergy is no longer responsible for your well being or your mounts. We will do all we can to get you up if you do fall or at the worst we will notify your next of kin.

Race Map
This is the order of the race:

The Synergy Member will be saying "Checkpoint" in around chat so that you can easily tell where he is.

Ride to Fairhaven and DISMOUNT before entering the city. (This means before walking onto the wooden planks you must be off your Mount.)
Proceed to Windy Head and got to the Balcony.

In addition to the possibility of becoming the personal messenger to the Guard Chief, the guard has opened its vault to all of the contestants. Many weapons and armor have been siezed throughout the years from bandits. This is said to be the pick of the bunch.

Top five place holders will have a choice of one of the following items, with First Place getting first pick and so on. These Items will be made to order at the end of race to tailor the prize to that of the winner:

Choice Waving Sword
Medium Armor with hp boost
Light Armor with hp boost
Light Armor with focus boost
Magic Amplifier of healing
Jewelry set with HP boost
Set of Shield and 1handed Sword

More items may be available at time of race. Quality subject to change

All contestants will recieve food for thier mektoub for participating.

If you have any questions or comments please leave them here or contact me in-game. Good Luck all and hope to see you there!

Great idea! I think I seen this on another board, but still cool. But a Mount Race in Tryker? How about hosting it in Matis lands, where 1) it's safer 2) easier 3) lot more realistic to race.... I love your idea but, come on, Matis or even Zorai would be better than Tryker... but it's your event so good luck with it. And I just that no one intentionally drags aggro on other people during this race. It is considered harrassment and can be subject to law.

Aggressive mobs will be chasing riders. There is no real way around this. If you find yourself being attacked, you can do one of the following:

Ride to the nearest water.
Try to out run the mob.
Hope that the mob finds the rider next to you more appetizing.
Dismount and engadge the mob.

In regards to hosting this race in other regions, this order was given by our local Guard Chief. What you do in Matis should not be up to us.

Fraggin AWESOME!
What would really spice things up if it was all PvP during the race and you could use weapons from the mount to take out your opponent.

Looking at the map, any way you could put flags at each checkpoint spot and enlarge the map a bit to clarify it a little?

Great job for hosting this event, it looks to be fun!

Absolutely, I will take care of that tonight.

Recent News
It has come to the attention of the Fairhaven Guard Chief that many homin do not posess the dapper that is needed to purchase one of their own Mektoub Mounts.

The Aeden Stable Association has gathered a considerable sum of dapper since it started selling the newer feed bales that are needed to adequately keep the mektoubs nourished. Rather than admit its monopoly on the feed trade and suffer the fines that they would incur, the ASA has decided to give one of its finer breed of Mektoubs away.

In order to fairly decide who gets the mektoub, Mrs. Abigail Derren, the local school teacher, has decided to recite a riddle. In the riddle will be the location of her sister Nuit and the free mektoub. You will have to retrieve something that is also in the riddle before she will turn over the mount to the right person.

This is not an impossible task for the average homin to complete, because the Guard Chief realizes, after a weekend trip with his nephew, that the ability to ride well does not always come with age. Some are born with this ability.
You can expect this riddle to be recited in the region of the Lakelands on Saturday February the 5th at approximately 8pm.
Good luck to all,
and buy Avendale's New Concentrated Feed Bales!

The Free Mektoub Mount has been Won!

The riddle recited tonight at 8pmEST was deciphered and won by Sunew of The Sacred Order. Sunew was last seen riding out of Darkmoor on his new mount. You can see a picture of him here:

We hope to see him in next weeks First Annual Mektoub Race.

Now, to pay the bills:

Buy Windermeer Feed Bales! Our basic bundles allow you mektoub to run faster and longer with less bulk thanks to our new recipe. Only Jed here knows the recipe and hes not talking. Right, Jed?
