...as in the proper attire for St. Patrick's Day. :D

I'll be handing out green armor - free q100 LA with 50hp while supplies last - starting at the Fair Haven stables at 6p Central. If you have the mats, I could also make it for you. At some point maybe we can get a parade going with everybody in their green duds, mounts and packers. Further details as we make them up.

I think he's related to the homin that was selling candy cane staffs on Christmas.

The event is tonight, 7PM EST, Midnight GMT.

Come and show off your green!

Basic/Fine Irin Oil, Fung Resin, Anete Fiber, Redhot/Silverweed Sap, plus a drop from Soma's Irish Creme bottle and you'll be all set!

Your not even going to try to come up with a reason why this would be happening on Atys???????

I will call a troubadour (I hear that the one from the trivia content has found himself unemployed recently, so he'll be cheap) and hire him to sing us a song during the parade. If anyone can spin a tale for this impromptu event, a strolling minstrel can. Maybe a tale of a great hero who drove out the kitin.

The parade route hasn't been planned yet (Mayor of Fairhaven demands a high price). I'm going to leave it to the MC Soma. Go Soma Go!!

Isn't the reason obvious? It's so you don't get pinched by the other kids.

Seriously, I don't have any idea of the background of St. Patrick's day in RL. I couldn't explain to you why we dress in green and drink green beer on that day in RL other than it's fun. Why does the game have to be different?

Since I can't stand to hear of something on Atys happening because of RL events... here is your reason..

Tonight there will be a celebration of the ancient Tryker massab hunts from the old land. In the old lands it used to be a custom for tribe leaders to take their first male child out and show them the art of hunting massab. Following the hunt each tribe would gather at their own camps and pass the leader would pass their green massab coat on to the child to show the child had learned a art of hunting. Then all of the various tribes would march from their camps to Fairhaven in their green. Upon reaching Fairhaven a celebration would commence where they would eat the roast massab meat, dance around fires, and drink beer made from bark.

Sure, if you want to believe what Mrs. Breggie told you in 5th grade history....

St. Patty's day really started with old Becaussey O'pattie. On a dare from his friends, O'pattie licked a yelk's mushrooms. When properly prepared, yelk mushrooms have many "medicinal" uses but everyone knows you NEVER lick a living yelk's mushrooms. Unfortunately for O'pattie, he was unable to break free of the mushrroms' grip. His trips to the wildernees grew longer and longer until one day, he disappeared for good.

Several years later, O'pattie emerged onto the docks of Fairhaven, dressed in his suit of green Yelk moss, distributing green libations (don't ask!), and telling his stories of his visions of the little green man who was out to steal his lucky charm bracelet.

Each spring, O'pattie would show up spreading his tales of little green men. "There goes Stoned O'pattie," they'd say. O'pattie became the symbol for the free-thinking Tryker youth but to the elders, he became the symbol of everything that was wrong with the new generation.

Desperate to keep some sense of control over the rebellious tendencies O'pattie inspired, the elders approved an annual "St. Patty's" day celebration. It was to be held in the late summer/early autumn when the yelks are less potent. It's unclear of when the story of passing the green messab coat came to be but it's surely another means for the elders to cover up the true nature of St. Patty's day.

So there you have it, the real story they didn't want you to hear. So put on your green yelk moss, come drink some green ale, and join us in the yelk licking.

O'pattie - wasn't he related to the Leary brothers, Tim and Reali?

Dunno about the yelk licking but I heard fermented messab milk was also passed around, which tasted somewhat like Baileys. Anybody up for milkin' a mess of messabs?

That was a lot of fun, got some great pics I'll post later too. Thanks for the invite!

I was disheartened to see only one non-tryker join us in the yelk licking(and only for 10 mins). The other races don't know how to have fun :P

After haveing seen some beauteus(sp?) Tryker ladies in Witherings, I would pay for some portrats of this festival. Dagger, if you can get to Zora, I would be glad to meet you there, but if not, I should find a caravan to Fairhaven soon enough.
